You think you can keep racing cheap by making teams fit unlimited cars under a silhouette body? How adorable.

As much as I love to harp on nepo babies, it’s hard to look at Lance Stroll and definitively say he’s not good enough to drive in F1. He can be benefitting from nepotism but also be qualified for a drive. Both things can be true at the same time. I just think people (ex. Bradley, who seems to know next to nothing…
My thought would be a single manufacturing plant with a dedicated platform line that splits at the point someone wanted to “marry” the body to frame. Basic “Y” design.
VW is the King of taking a platform and shifting the sheet metal just enough to create products across multiple brands. Why think that they couldn’t utilize Rivian’s underlying tech/platform and just build from the frame up?
This is the first time that I think the Scout will actually happen.
I was assuming that Rivian is how VW is making Scout happen, not in conflict with the plans. I’m surprised the VW dealers haven’t expressed rage again given how Rivian sells.
The Scout brand doesn’t need to be that different from Rivian. This is a JV, not a merger or buyout. VW and Rivian can still be competitors. Automotive JVs between competitors are fairly common.
That was my first thought. Scout will be a re-badged R2 or R3. VW will be getting revenge on Ford.
I’m most curious about how this impacts Scout. Rivian is a bit upscale, so possible VW gets a knock off-ish clone under the Scout badge that’s more middle class oriented.
I am so over hyper cars. It took some years (decades) to realise, but I fail to get excited about cars that will only be sold to people who will never drive them.
It seems like a weak loophole. Isn’t the standard usually that, if you say you weren’t driving, you either give up the driver or you take the punishment yourself? And if you say you sold the car, you either identify the buyer or you take the punishment until they process the change of ownership? I think the police and…
People are pissed when Police seize clearly innocent peoples things. This is a different story. Repeatedly breaking the law with seemingly endless documentation, they could have and should have taken his car a long time ago.
No sign of intoxication or a medical cause of the crash.
Rehashing old C&D and CR articles.
times like these I’m extremely thankful to have my 2008 acura csx. it’s got a 5 speed, it’s comfy, and it’s dumb as fuck. no smart features, no nanny aids besides traction control.
The neo-robber barons. Im done with the modern era. Lets get the gulletine in the square, take back the stolen money from these billionaires, redistribute it and start over. I know that history says we will just end up back here again, but at the very least it will be cathartic for the rest of us for a bit.
Not at all surprised. I would never trust someone like Musk with any of my personal information orevn likeness. And I sure as hell would never give him even a cent.
If there are never any consequences, do they really?
Least surprising relevation on Musk. He seems to have little regard for any rules and regulations.
Yet another reason to keep your old analog car running as long as possible. Or give up cars altogether.
