Yes. Descent Freespace is still the best space-flight sims ever. Highly recommend picking them up from www.gog.com. The entire series Freespace I & II (plus expansions) is less than $7.50 right now...

A single bullet hole (or even several) is very unlikely to cause structural failure in a plane. Bullet holes in pilots tend to cause more serious issues though...

Exactly. A best case scenario (i.e. a good middle ground) is rarely (if ever) attained by governments on a national scale. I (personally) prefer to err on the side of giving my government less control over me than more.
