Why do these GOP donors only want their money back NOW? The blatant racism wasn’t enough? I refuse to believe any of them are offended for real. They just don’t want to look bad now that it looks like he’s not going to win.

The same people who were upset about men dressing as women to sneak into public bathrooms are going to defend this.
Just to nitpick: UMD or UMCP.
Yes I know, I’m just saying that we DO have to pay for staff to handle the shit that is our legal right. It doesn’t make sense to say you shouldn’t have to pay for something because you’re entitled to it. Who will pay for it? If it’s a public university you might take it out of the public money they get but then they…
Plenty of places do it. The state school I went to currently charges $970 for tuition and $8,305 in mandatory fees. I agree it’s absurd but it’s hardly unprecedented.
This is good; it takes the funding out of the whims of the annual budget, which fluctuates massively at state universities. Maryland has forced students to pay much higher fees for athletics. This is money better spent.
Yeah, that’s why this story is messing with me. On the one hand, holy shit there are so many assaults that a million dollars isn’t enough! On the other, they are actually doing something to fix the problem. Not sure whether to be horrified at the scope of the problem or to be happy they are working towards a solution.…
I’m not entirely sure if an editorial by the Diamondback is indicative of this measure’s popularity. If the students are still anything like they were when I went to CP, then they only pick up the paper to do the crossword and sudoku. Which is a shame because it is a good student paper.
There are sexual assaults on every college campus in America. This isn’t an indication that UM has more sexual assaults than other schools. It’s an indication that they’re actually being reported at UM, and that the Title IX office wants the resources to be able to do their job.
Trust me, UMD ain’t making money off football. That’s why it’s a Big 10 school now.
Personally, I’d take this over the old-school “we’ll handle it honey, don’t go to the police....wait what was your problem again, you whiny mess?” shit that happened at my school. But I guess that’s where we’re at with this issue. “better than nothing” is all there is.
In general, I think, the best practice is to report to both.
As someone who is about to transfer there, I’m super torn about this. I shouldn’t have to pay a fee for something that is guaranteed to me under Title IX, and my friend’s roommate was raped there and the response of the campus police was that she shouldn’t party so much and even though she got a rape kit done right…
Two things that stand out to me.
Burning seems harsh. Can’t we first just toss him in a lake and see if he floats?
very-straightforward-about-the-company HR person
I had an interview some time back for what looked like a great job, one I could build into the sort of thing I would enjoy doing. The last interview was with the guy that would have been my immediate supervisor. As the meeting wsa ending he noted that my current salary was more than his boss was getting paid & much…
I had a similar experience with two separate interviews for a satellite TV company (guess which one, you’ll probably nail it). The first interview was for a job which was about as legal as running around an elementary school in a scary clown outfit - it was pretty much corporate espionage, spying on competitors. When…
I once interviewed at a large simulator company (like submarines, etc) where EVERYONE including the HR person told me I didn’t want to work there - it was the most bizarre set of interviews I’ve ever had prior and to date. Yet it was a full set of interviews - everyone (including myself because I really thought…
