Atlanta turned a profit on the games and almost all the facilities built for them are still in use. The 1996 games are a great model to follow.

If ending up with that structure (which I quite like) is the worst that London “suffers” from hosting? London was a good indication that the games still can be hosted well and without pissing money into a hole. The problem is there are only so many Londons internationally.

Hawkeye here. I ran the club Hockey team there in the 1990s. Every year I had to fight tooth and nail for $1500 per year in funding. I would have to submit a report every year to justify it. The only the other club team that received that much was the Ultimate Frisbee team...
