I know, I know, another BMW from Le Mans. But I just love this model from Ixo! The color, the detail, the decals; all look great! So forgive me for another shot of my Le Mans diorama.
1/43 Quartz BMW M1, 1985 Le Mans.
The winning BMW M3 GTR, driven by Muller, Muller, Stuck and Lamy in the 2004 24 Heures Du Nurburgring.
I finished this diorama quite some time ago but I wasn’t happy with the road dimensions. So this week I ripped up the grass and trees and sand berms and re-positioned everything. Which isn’t as hard as it seems because I used a vinyl grass mat for most of the terrain and some semi-tacky glue to hold it down.
Searching online has turned up nothing for models of a green first generation (Mk1) Pajero in long wheelbase form. I’m trying to recreate this photo of me in Belize in the spring of 1997 on a deployment with the Louisiana Army National Guard.
Couldn’t find any 1:1 images of this car online but here’s a 1949 2CV as prepped for the 1997 Rally Australia. 1/43 model by Universal Hobbies.
Haven’t much time to work on the Le Mans diorama lately but I devoted a chunk of time to it this weekend:
Some progress on a new diorama; the curve at the end of the Mulsanne Straight during the 1968 Le Mans. So for all you Le Mans fanatics - and I know you’re out there! - forgive my ignorance of some basic facts about this classic competition.
A timely delivery of an Alpine A220 was spoiled when I opened the box to see this:
Ferrari 330 P3, driven by Vaccarella and Bandini, 1966 Targa Florio. 1/43 scale model by Brumm.
I shot this outdoors about three years ago; cant beat that natural lighting! Alpine-Renault A310 in the 1975 Rallye Monte-Carlo, driven by Therier and Vial.
Can’t go wrong with an Alpine-Renault A110 1800!
More shots of the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/3. This time I was trying to replicate a shot from the 1972 Targa Florio; a Tipo 33/3 driven by Helmut Marko. Not sure if it’s the same #5 car from 1971 or not. I’ll look it up!
Here’s a quick explanation showing how I created the photo shoot of that gorgeous Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/3. Here’s a wide shot of the diorama:
I was so inspired by Philip’s recent post of his Tipo 33/3 by TSM that I had to find one! Found this with a Make An Offer on the bay. You wouldn’t believe how much surgery the driver - Vaccarella himself - had to endure to fit in the cockpit.
I posted this car quite some time ago, all shiny and new, so I thought I’d dirty it up a bit as it was driven in the 1972 Spa 24 Hours. This weekend I attended the Amherst train show at the Eastern States Exposition Center in Springfield, MA. While there I purchased some weathering powders from Bragdon Enterprises and…
A couple of Fiat 500s.
My last post of the La Route BLEUE series for now: a Renault Galion in dairy farm service.
Another one of the La ROUTE BLEUE series of 1/43 vehicles by Altaya. This is a Renault Galion in service truck livery.
I was eating breakfast this morning when I heard a loud CRASH!!! Sort of a metallic sound mixed with a solid THUNK! What the hell was that? I walk into my office and instead of seeing this:
