55k is actually right on pace to where the 3 series has always been priced adjusted for inflation. In 1993 the MSRP on the e36 325 was $29,650, adjusted for inflation that is $53,332 in 2020. So not that big of a jump.

You can’t hide it but the center of mass is important in a car. It’s why a CUV typically handles shittier than a wagon, the mass is raised up. With an EV all the mass is as low as possible, so it doesn’t affect a car’s handling as much as it would when you typlically tack on 1,000 Lbs.
