I think Carousel has one of the most beautiful scores and a truly lovely underlying message, that as long as someone alive can remember you, you’ll never be truly gone. (Isn’t it great that Carousel and Coco have the same message?)

Ok but the author was wearing a dress.

I also am sure some of them, unfortunately, would say that they never witnessed that kind of behavior, so what can they say for sure happened.

Reading this made me think of Cathy’s backstory in Steinbeck’s East of Eden. That’s a great book and she is a truly fantastic villain, but OH the mental gymnastics I was doing the first time I read it.

Not that it makes a HUGE difference, but Scully is supposed to be 29 at the start of the series. She’s still a bit on the young side to be an MD AND an FBI agent.

I went through an entire X-Files watch last year and was SHOCKED at how young she looked in the pilot episode!

Some of the first interviews he did with Gillian Anderson are so uncomfortable, because he blatantly doesn’t care to know anything about the show she’s there to discuss. As she got older, she was able to playfully rebut him better, but he’s still an awful interviewer.

That video of the insurrectionists calling for Pelosi was chilling. It felt like it was out of a horror movie.

Wasn’t one of the reasons he was sworn in 10 minutes early the fact that 45 didn’t show up? I assume having to deal with the security and pomp of the then-President arriving would’ve added 10 minutes to the program.

Yes, this! I also think that it’s totally relevant to bring up the topic of colorism here. Is she a minority? Yes. Is she closer to looking white than the teen she attacked? Yes. She automatically has the privilege here.

I also distinctly remember learning how to use a manual can opener to open a can of cranberry sauce for a Sunday dinner. My grandfather narrated the entire thing like it was a horse race and it was a victory when I made it all the way around the lid.

I REALLY like Kamala Harris. I think she’s mind-blowingly smart, charming, funny and is a true commander of language and debating tactics. My take-away from last night was how often she looked DIRECTLY into the camera and addressed the viewers. She radiates so much warmth and concern for everyday Americans.

There’s also a big difference between doing a gender reveal via a cake and starting a forest fire.

There’s also a lot of other emotions and thoughts tied up in this. “My friend was that sick and didn’t tell people?” “How could I not realize?” “Am I selfish for wishing Chad had come to me for emotional support?”

Is there going to be an article on Jill Biden’s speech? I feel like now I’m really able to appreciate how much she understands and appreciates the challenges that many ordinary Americans face. She didn’t necessarily anticipate arriving at motherhood the way she did, she balanced graduate school, work and family, she

My mom and I have talked SO MANY TIMES about how we never knew this many cabinet members and staffers by name before because there wasn’t a scandal every 30 seconds. I want to know like two cabinet members by name and that’s IT. I don’t have the mental capacity for any more.

However, the most absurd comment from him was from a campaign event on the same day in Minnesota where one of his criticism of Joe Biden is that the news wouldn’t be that interested in him. The actual quote is

I think it was a LOT easier to hide Wilson’s health issues than it would ever be to hide Biden’s health issues. That being said, Edith Wilson was a great episode of Drunk History - I often say “Excuse me, it’s me, Congress” when knocking on my sister’s door.

I like Harris but I still think it’s so risky taking her out of the Senate and resetting California’s junior Senator’s seniority to the very bottom when Feinstein can’t have THAT much longer a career. It seems like it’d be bad for California to have two Senators that low on the seniority list.

It’s definitely true that, if an order has different divisions, the women tend to be more liberal than the men. I had Dominican Sisters in high school, as did one of my cousins, and she mentioned that the Dominican Friars at Providence College were SO much more conservative than the Sisters she had at school.
