Warhammer lore might be one of the longest-running conscious jokes in nerd-dom. It is designed to be eminently unimportant yet ridiculously over-the-top.

Reminds me of how so many people mention that The_Donald started ironically, but swarms of racists and nationalists overcrowded and “redefined it”. Nah, it was always a haven for assholes with just a few people doing it “ironically” (Poe’s Law? Act like an idiot and idiots will find good company with you?)
I have not read this story and will remedy that tonight.
That is very true, but I still find that many women still take offence to it whether it is or isn’t directed towards a man.
I think the more important question is: “Is it Numberwang?”
That seems to be a stretch equating those two words like you have. I don’t tend to use either of them but there’s no way the c word carries the same level of negative baggage as the n word.
Well now I wish one of the 11 questions was “Are we the baddies?”
Couldn’t one of your questions have been a demand to create more episodes of That Mitchell and Webb Look? At least ask him if something is or is not Numberwang for God’s sake!
My memory tells me that a substantial part of the story would be ruined if told in a visual medium.
*SPOILER WARNING*
Do not proceed if you have not read the original story.

IIRC, he was the first actor in 50 years to win the Golden Globe for Best Actor - Drama and not get nominated for an Oscar. It hasn’t happened since either.
The only complaint I have thus far is that the eldritch thing that injured our narrator is portrayed too vividly. I would have preferred that it was kept out of focus.
One of my favorite Gaiman stories, and yes indeed, the art for this looks perfect.
This is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE Gaiman shorts...mostly because it’s the very first story in Fragile Things, if I’m not mistaken, and that was the first book of shorts by him that I read. His books of shorts are all pretty stunning; he’s such a talented and creative writer.
I’ve always enjoyed this story. I thought Gaiman was exceptionally well-suited to playing in both the Doyles’ and Lovecraft’s literary worlds. And I thought the “twist” of the mystery was clever. I’m excited to read this adaptation. The art is perfect for it.
On the contrary, I don’t think most people know what they’re getting into when they start, because they start when they’re young and very stupid. I think we’ll soon have a generation of Internet Jackie Coogans and Mickey Rooneys telling us how early YouTube success ruined their lives.
The big difference is that Truman never signed up to be a celebrity and have every facet of his existence broadcast to the outside world. He was the victim of a cruel, authoritarian system and when he found out he was horrified and tried to escape.
The idea that reality (or our perception of it) is staged is not really that young though, famous and darn old instances being Plato’s allegory of the cave (which is probably one of the ur-texts to this idea) and Calderon’s “Life is a dream”.
