On the ‘people backing out without paying’ problem: it is a problem, but most Patreons I’ve seen have the ‘charge immediately’ option on, meaning people who pledge have to make the first payment immediately (then another at the end of the month). Yes, it can mean donors get screwed over instead (if they sign up just

If reports of Trump’s diet are accurate, I desperately hope Super Size Me was true.

To state the obvious, spoilers have the greatest impact on stories that are heavily dependent on plot twists (like murder mysteries). I can think of several big moments on Game of Thrones that had little impact on me as I know they were coming, so I’d say that’s a show that is easily ruined by spoilers.
(Star Wars, on

I think the real problem is that in today’s media age, people watch stuff at different rates and you can’t just assume all your friends are up to date with everything. (For instance, I still haven’t watched Breaking Bad, although at this point I really can’t complain if I read a spoiler for it.)

Of course, people

Like some kind of... Frankenweiner?

What frustrates me is how certain other famous people (naming no names) get in far bigger controversies over implicit ‘hipster racism’ or failing to denounce Nazis hard enough, while when Morrissey openly says explicitly racist stuff, everyone just shrugs and is like, “That’s just Moz.”

I guess theoretically you could be a reclusive hermit who has no contact with society, but makes large anonymous donations to charity... does that count as ‘nice’?

It was meant as an honest question, but re-reading it, that comment came out way more asshole-ish than I intended. Sorry. Shouldn’t comment when badly in need of sleep in future.

I’ve never understood why anyone has a ‘taste’ for this sort of thing, other than psychopaths. I mean, if you’ve had a horrifically abusive childhood, I can understand wanting to set it down in writing as an exercise in catharsis. But I can’t understand people who really enjoy reading about other people’s horrifically

OK, I skimmed the story. Guy and girl meet online, have bad sex, girl ends it, guy calls her a whore. Did I miss anything important enough to make it worth reading in detail?

A veritable House of Cosbys.

Trump hasn’t exactly eased off on the bombings and other overseas military interventions. You can argue he’s just as complicit in war crimes as previous presidents.

That seems entirely in-character for the MCU Spider-man.

Those adverts are worse than anything in the Death Wish movies.

At least Wyoming has some impressive landscapes. What does Alabama have? Just a rather pathetic bit of Gulf coast.

Yup, this. I’m not a furry, but started viewing them with sympathy after learning how many of them are deeply screwed-up people, frequently seeking to escape from some kind of trauma in their human lives. If dressing up as an animal is what they need to do to find their happy place, more power to them.

As another non-American, I only found out about this bizarre story after learning that Kerrigan was the name inspiration for the StarCraft character. (Wait - if you were born in the mid-90s, you probably won’t remember StarCraft...)

Sounds like you didn’t try very hard.

The fact that it’s not that well-remembered is what makes it a good choice for a remake. The familiar title helps sell it, but there’s great creative freedom to tell whatever stories you like.

OK, good to know I just about have time to catch up on the third season before this one starts...
