Needs a ‘kekeke lol’ at the end.

It also suggests the disturbing idea that what’s morally wrong varies across time and societies, so something that’s wrong now might not be wrong in the past or the future, or in a society with warped values. It’s true that what’s socially considered to be ‘wrong’ does change over time; but most people would say that

To correct a mistake the media keeps making: ‘Twitter’ is not the same as ‘the world’.

I miss the original meaning of the word ‘refute’...

It seems that we’ve now come full circle, and suggesting Swift is anything other than History’s Greatest Monster makes you a racist scumbag. Indifference to her is apparently morally unacceptable.

‘Whitewash’ was maybe not the best choice of words there...

Isn’t there also an anime about this person? Somehow it doesn’t surprise me that his/her story would appeal to Japan...

Don’t know about Lady Bird, but Brooklyn is well worth seeing. Grand Budapest Hotel too, though she only has a small role in it.

The sad thing is that (IMO) Spacey’s performance as Luthor is one of the few highlights of Superman Returns. Possibly the only highlight.

He’s the Japanese Daniel Day-Lewis.

I’m not sure if this is a sign that I’m growing out of action movies, but I found Fury Road’s non-stop action almost entirely boring. I recognise that it’s a very well-made movie, but it just did nothing for me. Maybe if I’d seen it as a teenager I’d have loved it; but these days I prefer my movies to have more things

This is true criticism of other movies, but honestly I found it to be true of Fury Road as well. IMO, it achieves a similar level of over-the-top boring intensity, even though very little of it is actually CGI.

Glad to see I’m not the only one. I was bored by this movie.

I remember people used to say calling Obama ‘well-spoken’ was a kind of backhanded racist comment, because being able to speak eloquently should be unremarkable in a President... turns out, not so much.

Only a fool’s hope...

How much later can it get? People have been using that phrase for a century. We must be at least on to Late Late Capitalism by now.

Fascinating. Advice to live by.

In more recent years they’ve been steering away from this, though - these days it tends to be someone chosen for positive reasons (as for 2016, they always give it to the winner of the Presidential election). The last obviously ‘negative’ choice was Putin in 2007, although that was probably lost on Trump.

Yup. If we had to pick one person, my choice would be Rose McGowan, but they could do like they’ve done in previous years (e.g. 2002, 2011) and give it to those who’ve spoken out about harassment as a group.

Thank you! Now, why the heck isn’t that option included as standard?
