He does play fathers sometimes (e.g. Bridge of Spies), but beyond that I'd say many of his roles can be described as 'father figures': in 'Catch Me if you Can' he was surrogate dad to Leonardo DiCaprio, in 'Saving Private Ryan' he was surrogate dad to the whole squad (and, by extension, to America).

Yeah. I enjoyed it well enough that it feels greedy to demand more… but Scott Pilgrim really should have been a miniseries. Most of the character development and emotion of the comics was lost in the adaptation.

I prefer complex human interactions, if you know what I mean.
