I’m in my 30s and I’ve barely seen any black and white movies.

They say in the video how it influences blocking: they rotate the scenery around instead of the camera. They even show it for a second. This cuts down on filming time massively.

This is a novel solution to the problem of acting for a green screen, or in a mo-cap stage: now the actors can visualize what the shot will look like. Part of me thinks this will help achieve more naturalistic performances in effects-driven films (even the kind where you can see human faces). Another part of me thinks

Yeah, the remaining io9 writers are pretty hard on franchise content that isn’t part of their collective MCU boner. Remember when it was a great site for fucking book reviews?

Gonna catch this at the drive-in later this week. This review does not exactly fill me with hope, but who goes to a Godzilla movie for the puny humans?

It failed because China didn’t care, it dropped nearly $100,000,000.00 in China alone and International accounts for 70% of these films. It actually did about average in North America only losing about $5,000,000 in gross.

I think [Bumblebee] failed for the same reason Terminator: Dark Fate did: after 5 movies of diminishing returns, people just didn’t care. Especially since in both franchise, the 5th movie was a complete mess of a wannabe franchise (re)starter which made very little sense and was just exhausting.

The open-world adventure game was warmly received by critics, many of whom praised its liberal use of superficial homages to Japanese cinema, most notably the work of Akira Kurosawa.

Commitee approach def not but there needs to be someone in the writers or producers room that breaks down that script for holes and tone. See how Alan Ladd Jr., Gary Kurtz and the editing team of Star Wars saved that movie during pre and post production.

Well said. I do do do hope Warner puts its foot down. They and snyder had his chance and blew it. (Batman on Film’s Jett said it best, they should have fired him after the JL script was turned in or postponed the movie and made it less of a mess when they saw the dailies)

Because Whedon had to cram in the reshoot to remove Manhunter and give WB the tone they wanted.

But whatever virtues that scene may have aesthetically that served to communicate emotion he completely destroys with the indulgence moments later with the “reveal” of Martian Manhunter.

First off let me say it’s unfair to compare the two versions. Whedon had two hours to try and make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. We have no idea what he would have could have done with as much time.

The whole notion of things going back to any degree of normal within the year is contingent on so many factors, not the least of which is some new variant that will require a modified or entirely new vaccine.

That it completely works?

That seems fair. This is the less shitty version of living in patch world.

This kind of article makes it hard to steer around cynicism. I have mostly taken the messiness of AC:Valhalla in stride. It mostly works. How much more can we really expect?

I will die laughing if they put a serious Snyderized version of Jet Jaguar in this movie.

It really is a fascinating story. I just wish there were not so much toxicity surrounding it. That’s the least interesting part of the whole story.
