Would it really be easier to make a better Wrangler? Everything they makes the Wrangler bad on the road is why it’s so good off road. Not to mention the aftermarket the Wrangler has, which makes it truly hard to beat.
That’s what I said earlier. They charge that much because they can. It’s a truck that was never intended to be around this long, they’re just milking it for all they can for as long as they can. MB is simply making a killing on each one they sell. Just look at how much the price has increased over time.
Not true, the Dodge Viper is hand built and significantly cheaper. The Land Cruiser, while also obscenely expensive, is still $25,000 cheaper than the G Wagon. The S Class is cheaper than the G Wagon. There is no way to justify the G’s price.
If Ford decides to build a street legal Ultra 4 buggy, I will forgive them for making it IFS. However, they already have the Raptor for blasting across the desert, the Bronco needs a SFA.
There is no way to justify the prices they charge for those things other than “because people still buy it”. They’re basically German Jeep Wranglers with really nice interiors and engines. There’s not reason for it to cost so much.

The Roadster was essentially an electric Lotus Elise, heavily modified but the basic structure of the car was developed by lotus. The Model S is the first car entirely designed and built by Tesla. They might not be a startup but they are effectively still building their first high volume car.
