S1 got a lot of flack for not having much of a central story arc but honestly, I found the standalone episodes far more interesting than the main story arcs of S2 and S3. The worldbuilding and character development were just far stronger in S1.

My friend worked on the Pacino film, Sea of Love, years ago. He said when they shot close-ups, Pacino would ask the director to shoot them two or three times so he could alter what he did with his eyes to convey slightly different emotions. This is not common practice. Many actors can barely manage one emotion.
I’m not being sarcastic with the following. I have no idea what the point of that Bud Light comparison was, especially when you quoted the Philippa part. Seeing as my point was that they already did the diverse casting in season 1, and while there certainly were trashy fans back then, it is difficult to see how it…
Straight, cis, white dude here, read all the official Witcher books, played the games, wouldn’t really consider myself a *super*fan of the franchise but I think it’s fair to say I enjoy the IP.
I think you’ll find if you do some introspection that you’re actually racist and mad about Phillipa.
With all that written, there is something I need to vent about this article and I apologize already advance about some of the things I am about to state.
Also, while I enjoyed season 1, it definitely had some very rough edges. When season two proved those rough edges were only gonna get rougher, I checked out.
I mean if a 30 % drop between seasons is that surprising for most shows, although I can’t claim to have some deep insight into Netflix numbers. So it could very likely just be a natural drop. Also it should be taken into notice that the gap between the two shows was pretty long and the Witcher prequel show they ran in…
I mean, even before the whole Cavill kerfuffle, S2 fell off a cliff. I’m not sure a ton more explanation is needed than that. I liked S1 more than I expected, thought S2 started really strong but got so much worse throughout that by the season finale I had more or less written the series off, barring some sort of…
Waiting for all of the episodes to be released. This gated release crap they are pulling needs to go away.
Its never been a very good show, with the news that the guy holding up the show is leaving isn’t gonna bring in views.
I enjoyed S1 and S2 a lot. I watched the first episode of S3, and it completely soured me on wanting to watch anymore.
The editing, acting, and direction felt terrible. It wasn’t engaging at all, and I don’t know if it gets better, but I don’t really care to continue watching.
Huw?
ABSENTEE LAAANDLOOOAHD
There’s a story of the very theatrical Kirk Douglas, in an early film role, trying to out underplay Robert Mitchum in Out of the Past and it driving Director Jacques Tourneur crazy on set.
I remember hearing similar anecdotes about Gary Cooper and Spencer Tracey as well. Directors and co-stars would act on set and get the feeling they were very overrated actors because they seemed to be doing ‘nothing’. But somehow they were doing exactly what it took for the camera to see what they were putting out…
If MS buys ActiBlizz, that will rocket them up from third place in the console market to... third place. Ooh. Terrifying indeed. And holy crap, if MS gets an exclusive or three that’ll totally distort the marketplace that’s clogged with Sony and Nintendo exclusives already.
“HOOO-AAAAAAAAAH!”
This is Lina Kahn’s white whale. The FTC needs to just let this one go, they have no case here.
