I had a 88 560sl until last year. Good car. Really astoundingly overbuilt. At the same time maddengingly annoying to work on. Hidden bolts mean have to reaserch the size of bolt before bliding fishing it behind the firewall. And fuck Jettronic.

Spending 100% of the miles driving through snow-bumps and winter potholes will wreck ball joins and bearings much faster than a standard car. Especially when the car is fully loaded.
Speed <> Fun. I have a 911 S now. Its faster in every way. Not sure its more fun than my old miata.
Its sexy as hell, but I have a hard believe many people will pick this over a p90D, which is faster and costs less.
No I agree with you. As beater toy that you do just enough to keep rolling, it really is an interesting option. I am now seriously considering picking one up for my wife for fun.
I was about to call BS on this, but I just checked my local craigslist. I’ll be damned. That said, as a former miata owner, part of the appeal was the maintenance was cheap and easy. Not something I would use when describing a Z3. Still, a very interesting option.
Counterpoint: I found it interesting and as a person that likes cars and travel feel it is appropriate.
Bland? Care to point out a better looking sedan in the $30k range? Its all subjective of course, but liking a well designed, ultra-safe, technologically advanced fuel-efficient car doesn’t make anyone a “sheeple”. I don’t want one (sorry, I hate mother earth and I love my V8s and flat sixes) but you seem ignorant when…
Well, not moisture directly, its capacitance like an older style touch-screen. However, that at certain mostures, the wood and human body can measure at the same rate when being pushed through the blad. A wet piece of wood (like when its raining) being held by your hands could measure the same rate as a cut to the…
Useless rear seats???? I’ll have you know those seats are the difference between us Dads making the case for a car and failing miserably. Why do you think I have a 911 instead of a Viper. Praise be to Lotus for having the 2+2.
It should be noted that it could also be triggered by damp (pressure treated) wood and doesn’t work in the rain.
RUN LIKE THE WIND. Speaking as an R107 owner with R129 friends, these things were at the nadir of MB reliability. They are literally leather-wrapped garbage.
It looks like blast, but at $50k we are well inside lightly used M4 territory.
The old ones, sure, but everything I read is that the last generation were much easier to tame (ignoring the homicidal ACR for the moment). That leaves us with a great looking, V10 powered, race-proven car that does simply doesn’t sell. Perhaps you could point to the Corvette as just too compelling, but if anything…
God no. We don’t need another overpriced bro truck. This shouldn’t be (or pretend to be) a towing focused vehicle and 285hp is more than enough for a truck of this size.
Well, I think they may have taken a lesson from the Viper. It has a manual, it EMBRACES the racer crowd and doesn’t sell at all.
Been there, done that. Probably 10 dozen times growing up. Ya, its a little unsafe and I would avoid it with my kids, but its hard to hate.
Deal seems dead. Now at $134. Though, still a deal.

Sure, it will always be worth it to fix a Ferrari, but I have hard time imagining the technology you are describing existing in the next 30 years. We are already seeing it, notice how many old SL560/SL430s you see on the road from the 70s or 80s (R107)? Lots. When was the last time your saw an R129 (1989-2002)?
Good to hear from an owner! I have always liked the idea/sound of the QPV and it made my shortlist but the horror stories about reliability and interior build issues scared me away. Good to know that much of it may be overblown. It also struck me as a bit of tweener car. Not quite as much fun as the M4, not as…
