The iPod wasn’t that innovative - mp3 players were already a thing. The thing that made it awesome was iTunes. You had to have an iPod to use iTunes, and it was the best music service bar none at the time and for many years to come.

I do think us younger folks aren’t as good at day-to-day manners because it’s seen as superficial and contrived, but it is pretty damn nice to hear a “thank you” from anyone, especially an SO.
