Yeah. Swapping would (more-or-less) solve the “have to buy new batteries every 10 years”, because you would effectively just rent them, and (as for some phone plans and long-term car rentals) they would be upgraded/replaced as needed by the supplier, not you.

For a large, stationary battery (ie: mass is not a problem) there are better (more environmentally-friendly) things than Lithium. Only use the light-weight stuff for batteries that move.

Unfortunately, making car batteries modular/swappable is a thing that car companies seem to be avoiding like they’re bad mojo or something. I’ve been saying that swappable is the way to go ever since electric cars (re)appeared on the market.

Zombies were OK the first time, but they’ve been done again and again and again and...

Yeah. My argument is this: what day is the “middle” of the week? Wednesday. So what day do you want in the middle of the calendar (where your eyes naturally go to when you think “hmm, Wednesday, the middle day...”)? Wednesday.

Inch” comes from the Latin “uncia”, meaning “one twelfth”. 1 foot, of course, is the length of a Roman’s foot.

Australia (at least some parts) thinks it’s the 51st State.

Ah. Bugger...

From ‘97 and doesn’t adjust?! Were Jaguar arrogant or just behind the times? My first car was an ‘82 Daihatsu Charade, and it had adjustable seats...

A friend of mine (6'4") used to drive a classic Mini. Looking out the rear side windows was a comfortable seating position for him. (He had mounting brackets that allowed the seat to go back that far.)

Yup; if there are stairs, I’ll take them. And because I walk fast, I get to the top of the stairs faster than people standing on the escalator.

IIRC, you didn’t “run around Springfield” - you climbed on the roof of some-one’s car and let them run you around Springfield! :-D

I’ve been saying the same for years, but no-one listens to me...

There’s a plurality of obfuscatory terminologies... Why are patents full of weird words and really bad drawings?

The Patent Office seem to be pretty hopeless at “Prior Art” searches. Boeing have a patent for an idea (more-or-less the same) that I put in the public domain nearly 2 years earlier.

Jeez, I’ll need to put up more towel rails.

Jeez, I’ll need to put up more towel rails.

Well, yeah, but they don’t need a comprehensive knowledge of why; just “foreigner shows up = locals die”.

He probably hoped to teach them English. Y’know, like Jesus spoke...

The Indian authorities (police, Coast Guard; not sure) have tried to retieve it. They got told to Go Away (in the international language of “I will shoot you in the face with an arrow”).

I suspect the Sentinelese know about the germ/disease risk, which is why they buried him quick-smart.
