Honestly, when me watched it me was surprised at how good it was. It was huge hit at time that saved MGM from bankruptcy. And it really lay out template for action movies that followed, down to introducing “one does duty/other gets booty” cliché with white cop Shaft works with.

He complicated man.

And that was before he played rich American asshole in Batman Begins! But in fairness, he play that role really well.

Damn right!

Me astonished it took almost nine hours for someone to come up with this reply.

Yeah, there seem to be lot of disdain for Singleton’s Shaft, but apart from it not being about private dick or sex machine with chicks, me really enjoyed it. It most down-to-earth of Bale’s “rich violent asshole” trilogy, Wright chew scenery like he dining at Four Seasons, and it have more to say about criminal

Yeah, it sound like he saying here, “we were tempted to deviate from plan and add more seasons, but then realized that was bad idea.”

Yes, Mr. Sherman. Eeeeeeeeverything stinks.

Well, me was getting hoagy anyway, but me was just hungry and people keep telling me it healthy to eat something other than cookies.

No kidding. Would there have been better roll for Carrie Fisher than “surprisingly profound drugged-up wastrel?”

Me was waiting for movie to point out that, of course these kids got into Stanford, Harvard, etc. — they all have rich parents. Except Molly, who actually have to work for things.

Sh...a...re...? Me not understand!

This was fantastic. This kind of thoughtful, long-form analysis that explore different angle than every other thinkpiece out there is what made me fall in love with A.V. Club in first place. Also, someone told me if me got enough upvotes, me would get free cookie! Me still waiting for that cookie...

We’re all very proud of you for not liking something.

Me immediately thought of that too. But me think there also conscious echo of Frodo Baggins – he saves his home, but not can find peace there having seen everything he’s seen, so he goes west across sea. And it made perfect sense for character, as far as me concerned.

Look, we get it, you’re an asshole. You not have to keep posting again and again to remind us.

Wow, you probably predate me, and me have been here forever!

Yeah, Bran being from now-independent North makes him perfect consensus choice. It like Washington D.C. not being part of state so no state will have undue influence.

If by “Arlington” you mean “economy,” then, yes.

If there one thing that has been consistent through 8 seasons of show, it that Jon Snow always stupid enough.
