Cougars are awesome too, and its really easy to make them look even more imposing than the Thunderbirds. I'd rock an XR7 all day.

RIP birdy. What caused the engine to seize, how many miles?
For the record, the 1989 MN12 put up similar skidpad and slalom performance to the 1988 Fiero and MR2, which is amazing when you realize that the MN12 was 16.5 feet long, sat 5 adults, and weighed 1.5 times as much.
Exactly, that was the difference in weight between the fox Thunderbird and the MN12 when the MN12 gained IRS. The MN12 ran circles around the fox chassis Thunderbirds, so the extra weight and technology was worth it. Ford figured out how to engineer past the IRS weight issue 25 years ago. No wonder the S550 Mustang…
Why no fox chassis LTD? Bob Bondurant loved those:
How about the worlds great equalizer?
I remember your posts from a few years ago, back when there were more 80s Ford enthusiasts on here. Torch wrote a post about Tempos not too long ago and alot of people piped up asking about you, lol.
I agree. SVO or nothing as far as I'm concerned. By the way, where have you been?
Davis, California.
Well, I've never spent more time gaming than in four of the top 5 games on this list. I still fire each one up and play on a semi-regular basis, as there is something endearing about all of them not found in Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4. It means people who have put in thousands of hours on Battlefield 2 and 2142…
Same boat I'm in, just college rather than high school. That said, I've discovered (as he did) a $100 transmission isn't always the best deal. But you're right, gotta do what you can.
They are Mazda gearboxes, specifically an M5OD-R2 which stands for Mazda 5speed Over Drive. That Ranger he bought likely came with the same transmission! I know that feel of watching the truck take its final ride, luckily I've never had to do that personally. There were a few other options he could have gone with. The…
Awesome man. Three of the 5 speeds, huh? Id be curious to know what failed each times. They are notorious for having synchros go bad, or having their shift forks get bent after long term use leading to more difficult shifts, but three complete failures? Thats some bad luck!
Its a Chevrolet, it doesn't have vacuum operated hubs. It doesn't even have hubs that unlock from the axle shafts. All of that is done by an electronic actuator at the differential. Same reason why GMT400 and newer Chevrolets never came with limited slip differentials in the front.
Like the Explorer which was on the exact same (BroncoII/Ranger) chassis. There was a reason the Aerostar lasted until 1997 though.
Has Ford learned nothing in the past 30 years? This was rear wheel drive, had a standard transmission, and real towing capacity. Eventually came with real rear biased all wheel drive.
The MN12 rear subframe hooks up past 600HP with no problems, that IRS is a similar setup. Not the first time Ford's been down this road:
The other thing that makes it look like an intern did it is the stripes aren't on the roof, just the hood and trunk. I do like the color keyed mirrors and spoiler delete though.
The 40th Anniversary package cars had Arizona Beige bullits, if they are gunmetal, they aren't 40th cars.
With the arizona beige stripes? I've seen maybe three or four other ones, ever. Heres the production breakdown chart the other guy in the thread made:
