Offroad trims take a penalty from other configurations on the vehicle. We also have different (higher) standards, drive more miles and have overall higher speed limits. I’ve seen a Lada packed with a tonne of mandarins, just because it’s possible doesn’t mean you should do it on American highways.

Now playing

the ranger’s “max payload” is only 1900 LBS if you have the extended cab (not double cab) and 2wd. if you have the double cab and 4x4 the ranger drops down to 1,600 pounds.

WTF??? People would rather just pay “what Ford says the car costs” instead of investing a few hours shopping around/negotiating to save thousands of dollars? Who are these people?

<I like the idea of actually finding a bnb and being in the middle of the communities we’re visiting, and having a full bathroom.>

So more indifference than malice.

Quitter.  :)

People have been driving sports cars on the street since before there were race tracks to drive them on. Sports car =/= track car.

Exactly this. My 4wd F-150 with BFG K02's that have the 3 mountain peak snow rating did much better in the snow than my wife’s Outback with Michelin Defenders. I felt much more in control with my truck than her Outback. It definitely was up to tires, but my truck, especially being a 4 door, which puts a bit more

The no-fly list is a civil liberties nightmare and shouldn’t be recommended by anyone for anything. It’s often wrong and has almost no due process.”

Ha. More like rose-tinted glasses from the Spinelli, Wert, and Hardigree days. Wasn’t always like this; Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Most people in most cars are fine driving 80-85, but they mostly shouldn’t be going much faster.” Absolutely agree, especially when you consider that the majority of drivers have zero concept of what a tire’s speed rating is...

nothing like driving 1000 miles at 70 then hitting PA and have to 55. it is better now than is was 20 years ago.

I think they’re complaining that the advertised price doesn’t make it clear that the down payment is already included in that price. Kinda the same way as Tesla shows the “POTENTIAL SAVINGS” price as default, even though that’s not what the bill will say when you go to buy one.

Getting out of Michigan is tough. Most of the time it requires going through Ohio. I’ve learned to just sleep through that portion of I-75. I mean... we have to go so low so who would I even hurt?

That’s a fair statement. As someone working at one of the companies shoving EV NOW down their employees and customers’ throats without talking much about a roadmap to the future (AKA the “ready, fire, aim” approach). Whenever I hear people (Jalopnik, in this case) poo pooing anyone (Toyota) for taking a measured

And it had the turning radius of a school bus.

I regularly hit 50 EV miles in mine.

Biggest issue is that the 911 does everything the NSX does but better.

Yeah, I always kind of laugh about it too. I own both a 2 door and a 4 door pickup. I think most people greatly underestimate the utility of some extra cab space and overestimate the utility of a foot or two more bed space. There is a reason 4 doors fly off the shelves, even for most fleet vehicles it seems these days

Its a truck.
