I have three kids.
They are grown now, but a dozen years ago, this was a real situation for my family.
I hung onto our Volvo wagon as long as I could, until it just didn’t work anymore. (Funny thing about kids; they just keep getting bigger.)

We ended up with an Acura MDX over a mini van. Here’s my sound reasoning why:

I’m convinced by his authoritative tone. I used to think there were other reasons, but now I know there’s one and only one reason: world dominance.

I bought my Colorado because it was yellow.  My partner and I bought our Jeep because it was orange.  We like color.

That caught me off guard as well. ‘Common’, ‘widespread', 'prevalent'. All better and more accurate than 'popular'. Even 'endemic', though possibly an exaggeration, would fit much better. I imagined vegans and such getting bitten on purpose to make sure they keep on the straight and narrow.

They’re not just hot, they’re breathtaking. Truly to die for.

Did you see when tick derived red meat allergies were on Colbert, and they did it like The Beatles?

Yup. If they’re status-centric, they’re looking at a low-end A4 or 3-Series. If that’s not their thing and they’re looking for a fantastic performance value, the Stinger is where it’s at.

Who reads past the headline? Ain’t nobody got time for that.

Damn! You're right! I was just trying to be funny with answering that question. lol

I, for one, am really looking forward to it.

A 4Runner with a moonroof and lowering rear tailgate does a pretty darn good impression of open air motoring, and actually does a remarkable job of keeping buffeting to a minimum even at 70-ish mph.

Actually, I’d bet it wasn’t horrific- BMW seems to have a way to have a halfway decent ride with ridiculously big rims. had 17s on my E30 M3 which is +2 and it rode pretty well. My 911 has 19s and rides pretty well also. My wifes C300 on 19s though? that sucks. But M-B was pretty well known to make up for handling

FWIW, the chief engineer on the ATS-V stated that the LT1 will fit just fine.  Not that Caddy will dare to explore that market ... sigh.  They could tap the Corvette parts bin for the 7-speed manual and still hit the CAFE targets, but nooooo ... everybody needs a turbo.

Blackwing V8, plz.

FTR - I’ve owned several BMWs. 2002tii and E21 323is and I still find this exchange funny as hell.

Isn’t this basically a lifted golf for people with bad hips (a.k.a. the only demographic who buys new cars, apparently.)

Great point. We also assume there is a “right” decision. I mean we like to make up these moral quandaries and somehow assume the car wouldn’t be “smart” enough, but in the end the car will do whatever it is programmed to do, and those “decisions” will likely be far better than ours if for no other reason then the

The new 320d is still offered with a manual, at least in the UK.

“refuse to leave the workforce”... lol.

I can’t remember who he was quoting, but I recall Hitchens once offer that “of all forms of human solidarity, the generational is the lowest.”
