That’s exactly the point-the sedan market is shrinking, there is a lot of players in the market and the profit margins aren’t there to support investing into it. Even Honda has to slap incentives on the Accord, which was more or less a new design because sales/demand is falling

Exactly this. Yes, if I live and work in a major urban environment AND can charge the car at home every day, electric makes perfect sense. But if you ever go anywhere outside of that magic circle and can’t re-charge the car in ten minutes or less like pumping gas then it becomes instantly an expensive anchor.

Where this GTI is sold, a Golf R starts a hair under $50k and a 3-door GTI starts at $38k.

I’d completely agree with you. I’ve got an in-law who lives outside of Denver in Evergreen; it very rarely snows when I’m there, (though there’s almost always snow on the ground when I go) I just like to perpetuate silly stereotypes in order to make my point about a car....

In Japan the base model starts at ¥2,656,800 or about USD$25,500 and the top of the range starts at ¥3,850,200 or USD$35,500, so it’d be much less, less then an IS too.
That said this is second generation has been in production since 2009. If they introduce a 3rd gen I’d definitely like to see it here in the states tho
