It’s fuck it money and I still wouldn’t buy it. And this is coming from someone that loves UTEs.

A pristine 18-year-old Accent is not worth $3,000. A molested one can’t be worth $300.

Very true. I feel like the price increase for the next generation pays off on interior design alone.

Offering packages costs a lot less than a la carte.

This is exactly what I was thinking. A manual wrangler or Audi have been fun ski cars, but this could be just as fun!

Hard core car gal who went from a 30 year old BMW 635Csi (long history of meh cars prior to this, when I was younger) to an Autobahn package GTI with DSG. GET THE GTI. Seriously I didn’t think I could find another car more fun than my beloved BMW. I haven’t looked back. Bought it used (it’s a 2012) with 90k miles.

Sure does. My dad had a car a few years back that refused to actually die, but annoying issues came up constantly - I think he was at least somewhat happy when it was totalled.

All the specialty camping equipment looks like it will break on the third use.

It looks like it would qualify for a passenger car since it has rear seats/belts/windows.

Everyone claiming the 124 is unreliable needs to show their work. This thing is built by Mazda, and the main component from Fiat is the engine. Everything I’ve seen and heard states the multi-air is a reliable engine and not what causes problems in other Fiats.

The 1.4 is a reliable engine, the trans is Mazda, and as far as I know, the rest is Mazda.

Yes, the N55 is single turbo, and so is the B58 in _40i models. The N54 that came before the N55 was twin turbo, as is the S55 in the M3/M4/M2 Competition.

BMW rarely messes up in the wheels department. Even if the standard wheels aren’t great, they will likely offer a decent optional wheel.

I used to work for my dad a few years ago. Part of the morning routine was the coffee run, which required me to go up the highway a bit and back. My 1980 E24 didn’t have cupholders, and he often would call me on my way back to inform me about what we had going on that day. This created a situation where I had to hold

Jaysus, even my brother-in-law who wears Velcro sneakers can drive a stick.

My buddy used to steer with his knees, roll a blunt, and shift at the same time. In a 02 Ranger. I wanted to one up him so I used to do it in an 84 GMC C30.

A minivan is longer AND wider than my GX and only slightly better fuel economy.

I learned to drive a stick at the age of five. In a 2WD F100 in the middle of a blizzard, at night, as my father shouted instructions from the trailer we were towing. There’s nothing magical, or particularly difficult, about it.

Probably not. But if you’re coming out of a 2008 Impala that averaged 18 city / 29 highway and you see a new Traverse with a sticker that reads 20/26, gas mileage won’t be a huge deterrent.

Postscript to the footnote to the side note.
