People think I have an issue with motorcycles, which I don’t. My questions are more about something as large as a Goldwing, used for the distances it’s intended for, and all the gear you’re wearing at the same time.

They’re working on a new one.
Most people I see on Goldwings are fully geared out. That’s always been a large hurdle for me in terms of dealing with a motorcycles. Riding safely means a lot of gear that just doesn’t appear to be very comfortable. I guess it’s worth it for them, but being able to hop into an open top car just seems like it would be…
Fair enough.
I don’t think people are buying these for their power per se, but fair enough otherwise.
She started driving in 2010 when she got her license in Boston. She got her racing license in December 2017. Her first race was a year ago.
I’ve ridden motorcycles. I’m not insulting or attacking anyone here for liking riding them.
Not with that attitude.
I get the concept for motorcycles generally, but when you get into the large highway cruisers, it seems like it would lose some of the appeal. It never seems like the people I see on them are super worried about the acceleration either.
I can appreciate the benefits of motorcycles generally, but in the case of using a Goldwing to cross the country, it seems like you’d lose some of that.
I can see that for smaller bikes more focused on fun, but something like this that’s meant to eat up miles seems to lose a lot of that benefit with a lot of added nuisance. But fair enough.
Are you saying nationalized unions under communist regimes may not be very good at protecting workers’ rights?
I’m not arguing for or against the policy.
So the reason to wear all that gear is lean direction?
I can’t imagine riding one of these things specifically is the height of drama by comparison.
I see couples on these things, with their little trailers, wearing air conditioned space suits, talking to each other by headset, and I’m confused by the whole event.
I can accept that motorcycles can be fun. I’m a little confused how a giant, automatic, cruising motorcycle that requires you to wear a lot of heavy clothing and a helmet is more fun that driving an open top roadster that you can drive wearing shorts and no hat.
So yes, the amount of emissions caused by gas use from hookups is relevant. The article providing the amount of emissions from electricity production by itself is meaningless. Saying you can derive the former from the latter doesn’t justify only providing the latter in the article.
I’ll never understand why people decide to ride these and not just get a Miata. Given all the gear you need to wear on the Goldwing, the Miata seems like it would feel more open with the top and windows down.
And the specific emissions share of electricity production from natural gas is still largely meaningless to a discussion of gas hookups and their emission footprint and whether they should be allowed.
