We bought a used 2013 500e in 2017, and it’s been fantastic. The add-on TomTom is kind of lame, but also fits in the glove box.
They’re a great city car for the money.

The simple answer is that VW has never figured out how to do a chain drive. They’ve had problems since the VR6 was introduced, and continue today. Insult to injury is the cost of parts. It’s a real bummer.

The tier carrier latch is powered (of course its powered), and is run by the trailer light control module IIRC.

For the USA market, the Audi 5000 got turn signals installed in the bumper where the fog lamps on the European 100 had them. Both models have the same lenses on the front corner of the car, on the USA model they’re just parking lamps, and on the ECE model they’re just turn signals.

It looks great. I hope it delivers. I’d like to replace my ELR before 2023.

The auto wipers work fine for me in the daytime. At night they aren’t as sensitive.

Every Tesla has rain sensing wipers. AP2 and on use the cameras as a rain sensor. In 2017 it didn’t work that well. Today, it’s much better.

If you want / need low speed wipers right away, push the end of the turn signal stalk in (just like on a mercedes). If you want to set the wipers to manual hi (which isn’t that much faster than low really, the low speed is fairly quick) then you have to use the touchscreen.
If you want to take the wipers out of

The price is ok... if the head gasket has been done. They tend to fail (externally) on this motor.

The Common Rail cars are specifically designed not to fit the large nozzles - and some even have a device that will only allow the auto diesel sized nozzle to fit - to prevent filling with gasoline by accident.

Reading the PDF of all the reports is interesting. The reasons for the fires are varied. Wiring failing. Metal dust in the hazzard / turn signal switch. Headlight switches melting. Starters shorting out. Starter leads not secured properly and shorting out on the brackets. ECU harnesses that fractured internally and

1st Gear: So they’re investigating the NVME failures on the Model S / X MCU? Ok.

Considering how soft the contents of the truck were, airbags might not have been needed.

These are neat... but you can NOT find parts for them :(

What a great story.
This is one of the first vehicles with the 4 speed UltraDrive transmission. I wonder how much work as been done to it over the years...

Yes - this!

While you’re in there, do the PCV valve. They like to stick, which then pressurizes the crankcase to boost / intake pressure. This makes the oddly designed rear main seal separate from its mounting plate, and cause a massive oil & vacuum leak. Fixing it means pulling the trans and replacing the rear main.

How many

We had a 1992 Ram 250 w/ rear only ABS. It was a very basic system.... it cycled about 3x a second. The hydraulic unit was mounted under the bed, and worked by bleeding pressure off into a built in accumulator - so as it worked, the brake pedal sank closer and closer to the floor.

You should compare these tire lifetimes to something like a VW Touareg or BMW X7. Many with V10 Touaregs only got 20,000 miles out of a set of tires.

YES. I never, ever used the volume knob in our Passat because of this stupid design.
