If you’ve spent a few hours exploring it and getting a good taste of the atmosphere and lore, I’d suggest you consider using a guide to push through to the end (blasphemy to some people, I know).

I’m usually not a good movie critic. I tend to find the good in most things, and can suspend disbelief to where I don’t notice a lot of the things I see people complain about (Last Jedi rules!).

My main source of unease about this is that it seems like Square is going out of their way NOT to mention that this is part 1.

I too had the urge to play (and finally finish) this on New Years Eve. Didn’t have as cool of a spot as you to play it, but warm and cozy in my living room was just fine.

It’d be interesting for sure. Anecdotally, I’ve played 2 of those and loved them, and plan on Disco Elysium being one of my first purchases having just picked up a new PC.

I remember the first time one I saw one of those data-mining tools disguised as a “what Harry Potter house are you in, based on your Facebook profile” or some shit like that.

I laughed out loud when I kicked his ass in the first fight and he had to pay me something like $1,200. I’ve had a pokemon for 30 seconds and I’m already using it to shake down my childhood best friend. Gotta love it.

That’s fair enough, and it sounds like you’re rational about it. In fact, you being rational about it means you’re one of the few who aren’t on board with the game but DON’T need to shut up about it.

How do you know one of the new Pokemon won’t become a favorite though? You’re throwing out an entire game because one Pokemon isn’t in it?

Having no technical knowledge on the subject myself, my answer would be: Nintendo.

Haha, I did the exact same thing my first day playing and dismantled someone’s ladder accidentally. Contrary to your experience, I just immediately felt shame like I had done something deeply offensive (probably because I was raised Catholic, but that’s another discussion for another time).

Nobody made you defend Troy because nobody should ever, ever defend Troy.

+1 for The 37th Ball Pit

I mean, as someone who knows zero Japanese and wasn’t in the room when the question was asked to hear what was actually said, it would be impossible for me to prove anything to you regarding the initial conversation and its translation, so you win?

Huh, I guess I just forgot they were less than normal retail price. Happy to admit I’m wrong there.

And therein lies one of the problems. That’s a Polygon report on a translation of an interview from a Japanese game magazine. There are several degrees of separation between what was actually said and what people over here ended up reading, and no ability to ask follow up questions to clarify what the original answer

1) I know you’re not a gamergater. You actually sound like a reasonable person, so that’s admittedly a bit of an exaggeration on my part

I don’t think I’ve ever seen people so eager to pay a monthly subscription to a mega-corporation for the privilege of watching a bunch of things they’ve already seen, and one episode of a cool new show.

None of those games are even relevant to this conversation.
