I believe Tattoine was filmed in Tunisia for A New Hope/Phantom Menace, but Jedi stayed closer to home. Personally I think there is alot of laziness involved with the filming of Jedi and picking locations so close to Skywalker ranch help contribute to it.

I think the clear advantage of Disney Plus is the sheer volume of family friendly titles it can produce. Don’t underestimate the family market. Netflix does an ok job but they really can’t compete with Disney on this front.

Marvel/Feige have a level quality control and love of the characters that guide these movies. Sure it isn’t always 100% successful but there is a level of care in trying to make quality films.

Let’s remember how the deal started initially. Sony’s leaked e-mails had a bunch of wacky ideas for spin off’s , Amazing Spiderman 2 was poorly received, and basically opened up an opportunity to Marvel to strike a deal to save Spiderman but having creative control.

The language in Phantom Menace is alot like the original Star Wars screenplay with stuff like the Jedi Bendhu and other stuff like that. I remember the 1st 15 minutes of TPM I was thinking, am I watching something in a foreign language. 

We spend the entire movie with a character who ends up dying and barely registers in the rest of the trilogy.
