Maybe it’s just me, but the gear howl when a car is being reversed seems much louder from the differential than from the transmission. In reverse, the helical gears in the diff have to mesh in a counter-rotating direction which makes them rather noisy.

Congratulations! This is the absolute lamest piece of dreck I have ever bothered to read. It was in no way a decent car review and turned out to be 10 minutes of my life that I can never get back. Thanks a bunch.
