I did. I’ve seen some of the work the women on the list have made. They seem like they would be great candidates to direct a feature film and I hope they get to keep making interesting films!

It’s got some interesting moments and great performances but not everything is gelling.

They did some bit about their similar sounding names on an MTV awards show of some nature in like 2004.

There’s a lot to unpack in that sentence.

Some people (and, as per usual, this is like 12 people on twitter that somehow constitute a “movement”) think La La Land was offensive because Ryan Gosling “explained Jazz”. But two things: A) He showed a lot of love for black Jazz musicians; and B) I think his character was kind of supposed to be a pretentious ass.

It still inspires a lot of people, but it’s undeniably down from it’s heyday.
