The only way Palpatine’s return would be interesting to me is if they brought back Clive Revill and someone Marjorie Eaton-ish to play the role and didn’t even attempt to explain it.

You would have thought that they’d have planned out the beats for all 3 movies before they started the first one. Then there wouldn’t be a 2nd saying things from the first were irrelevant and a 3rd that comes back to negate the 2nd.
I think the bigger problem was no one told Rian no. JJ setup a trilogy and an arc and Johnson comes in blows it up yells “surprise” and then walks off patting himself on the back for being oh so smart.
If Gawker doesn’t like it, it means it’s a good movie.
Dear Disney:
whats next for Star Wars better be giving the reigns to Filoni, then clearing house of most everybody else save the art and costume departments. The Mandalorean, Rogue One, clone wars, rebels, and even Solo, have all showed that its not nostalgic fanboys keeping the new trilogy back but horrendous directing and…
There is no future as long as Kennedy is involved. Frankly I don’t care if Disney keeps her running Lucasfilm the Business, but remove her and all those hired by her from any involvement (creative or otherwise) with the Star Wars brand. She has devalued it in ways that would have seemed impossible a little over 7…
Disclaimer: In general I don’t like the new Skywalker narrative movies. Not every bit about them but I thought they felt rushed and slapped together.
This is a devastating blow for people who thought Star Wars didn’t have enough rape in it.
Like New York, New York?
Will there be Seawoks?
Darth Maul was amazing. I like elements of the prequels. I went to the Phantom Menace several times while it was still in the theater. There has been nothing enjoyable about the sequel trilogy. They really needed more Mark Hamill.
Preach!
Ah shit I forgot about Akbar. God dammit.
You’d think, with a multi-billion dollar franchise on the line, that someone in charge would’ve mandated some kind of coherent plan for the new trilogy. Instead, nah.
It’s not that TLJ didn’t live up to my expectations per se, it’s that the story was trash.
41 year old me was talking to my 26 yr old brother afterwards and we both had the same “meh” reaction. And he grew up on the prequels and loved them (I decidedly did not), so I don’t think it’s an age thing. We discussed how impossible it is to pin this trilogy down in terms of character arcs, themes and what it’s abou…
This will be the first Episode Star Wars I don’t really have much interest in seeing. After the TFW, TLJ, and Solo (Solo being the first SW I didn’t go see in theaters during my lifetime), I just don’t care anymore. The prequels were badly executed, but at least they were interesting.
Yup. I saw the original in the theaters in 1977. 7 year old Scelestus would be horrified at 49 year old Scelestus’ apathy towards Star Wars.
