Awww I got my boyfriend, now-husband to start reading for pleasure outside of school when we first started dating. We’ve been together for over 5 years and are both voracious readers. We both used to primarily read non-fiction, but have been exploring more fiction and historical fiction lately (thank you, book club).
Oh my gosh! One of my favorite things to do is go to the pub down the street from my house and read with a draft beer. No joke, my husband and I will go together, each with our own books, and read quietly while enjoying the beer. It’s so relaxing.
Secret millennial snowflake high five, then!
Kudos to the New York Times for writing a hilariously judgmental article making it sounds like a fluff piece.
They talk too fast in the West Wing. I’m thinking Schoolhouse Rock is more his speed.
I’m a millennial and don’t trust people who openly profess that they don’t read books, so... I think it’s more a measure of what characteristics we believe deserves respect.
Same here, but because America accepted immigrants between WWI and WWII. My maternal grandfather’s family is German (he was the only one of his siblings born in America) and they faced major discrimination because of that. Nevertheless, they powered through, he fought in Korea, and was one of the proudest Americans…
Harriet (Tubman) the Spy? Did she keep notebooks?
Tears literally sprung to my eyes when I read that headline. Thank you for sharing, but also are things really that bad that I get emotional over sweaters on chilly elephants?
People also forget that in order to be classified as a refugee, you have to literally leave your homeland and go to your second country of resettlement. Otherwise, you’re an Internally Displaced Person (IDP). Many refugees have had to travel to second, third, and fourth countries of resettlement before they’re able to…
True. I knew a few preachers daughters in high school and they were WILD. Granted, everyone in our small town knew they were preachers daughters so they just encouraged them, but still. Wild. One became a stripper a few years after graduating high school. Not sure what she’s doing now.
Oh my lord. I legit though I would never stop crying about mid-way through Brokeback Mountain. That movie shredded my heartstrings.
The Lion King and that one movie with the 3 animals who get lost and have to journey home. Those were the only other movies I’d ever cried during before A Walk to Remember.
Yes to all of this! I watched it in middle school with my BFF and we were both sobbing by the end. I think that was the first movie I ever cried during, with the exception of The Lion King.
I would be the worst model ever in an Elie Saab dress. I would skip, twirl down the runway, Enchanted-style while feeling like a princess.
I don’t remember how much my IUD was in Dallas, but I do remember being shocked that the co-pay was $0, even after the in-office procedure. Thanks, Obama!
Awwww thank you for that! Puppies and kittens make me so happy no matter what’s going on. :) Now I just want all of those puppies to climb on top of me and lick my face. That’s the only way to make this day better.
They look absolutely miserable and thisclose to outwardly hateful. This should be a happy day, not a few grunts and it’s over kind of day, like their sex life.
