Like 5 years ago when I bought my current 944 I found a few 850s in the same price range as an early NA 944. I really wanted an 850, but having known how to work on 944s already, and hearing horror stories about the V12 in the 850, I stuck with the 944.

My last DD, 2002 Nissan Xterra SE/SC. Bought it off a guy who didn’t disclose that it was on a salvage title. I never thought to ask because that’s usually something that you mention in the ad. Paid $2500 for it as-is because it was rust free. Went to get insurance on it so I could get a temp sticker to have it

Pretty standard really. Drag my ass out in to the middle of a forest, cut one down, drag it back up, shove it on the roof of the truck.

Nowhere in the owners manual for my Xterra SE/SC does it say it requires premium fuel, it simply says it’s recommended for maximum performance. Funny thing is though, you fill it with 87 octane and it starts knocking, retards the timing and dumps all the boost.

As a Canadian, can confirm.

The reserve gauge! My ‘87 Pathfinder had one. It’s mechanical and bobs around all over the place once you get below 1/4.

I’ll play the devil’s advocate here. Where I live we have a large coyote problem (they’re known to kill a large number of pets here annually). Most people who drive pickups and SUVs don’t pull over after they hit a coyote. One morning on the way home from work (around 4:30am) I hit a coyote with my Xterra and didn’t

I love the Skoda Rapid and Garde. I feel like the Rapid might actually be a fun car to drive.

Y’all are out there trying to get sweet JDM rides into America while I’m over here trying to find a way to import shitty econoboxes born in the former Eastern Bloc into Canada.

Well the Boeing font has been pretty much the same since they entered the Jet Age.

I agree. I grew up racing dirt bikes from the age of 8, and by 13 I was racing an ‘86 CRX in a four cylinder stock car division at our local short track. There’s a lot of kids (up here in Canada anyways) ages 6-16 racing dirt bikes, and I feel as though your risk of injury on a dirt bike is far higher than in a

Porsche 944s that have the pressed steel control arms (not the aluminum ones) have riveted in ball joints. When I bought my ‘84 it still had the original ball joints. Couple minutes with an air hammer and a punch and they were gone.

This section of the 400 is notorious for these kind of accidents. It’s just far enough out of Toronto that you start to become drowsy if you’re driving late at night. It’s pitch black, and it often feels like you’re driving off into nothingness. It’s twice as bad in the winter months, when the snowsqualls combined

Not sure how it works in the States, but up here in Ontario, postal trucks only do delivery in urban centres/towns. On rural country routes, mail is delivered via RHD CR-Vs and fleet versions of the XJ and Liberty (that I believe are also RHD.

Had to pull the tranny out of my 944 parts car, spent two hours fighting with those damn e-torx. I ended up cutting the axles with a grinder.

I bought an ‘87 Civic 1500S when I was in university. When I bought the car, I asked the guy for the keys and he replied “Oh, they’re just on the drivers side visor”.

I live in Central Ontario where rotted Volvo 240s, 760s and 850s reign supreme. They never die, but as someone who briefly owned a ROTTED 850 Turbo Wagon, let me tell you, holy crap do they rot. Not as bad as Nissans or Mazdas, or even GMs, but they still rot.

I think we should get you guys into a demolition derby car. It’s easily the most fun I’ve had for under $500. I’d tell you to try banger racing but that terrifies even me.

I had an R50 Pathfinder (a 2000 with the little 3.3L). It was unstoppable, until Nissan sent me a recall letter and then told me they had to buy it back for safety reasons. They wound up crushing it. Now they’re apparently on a mission to remove as many of them from roads as possible.

I used shoelaces as a serpentine belt on my old ‘92 Pontiac Sunbird V6 when I was a teenager. But I feel like a lot of people did that on early 90s GM products.
