Besides from the fact that the kids could go ‘oh heck, they could get rid of ME’ and how fucked up that is, it could also go ‘well, if I don’t like something/someone that is different than me, I can just get rid of it/them’. A few things to add color to the discussion:

Also begging the question: who benefits from this belated reveal? Not your wife, who will feel betrayed all over again, and probably leave. Not you, because whatever relief comes from unburdening yourself would be more than offset by the devastation from the end of your marriage. It’s lose/lose.
