I just want to see some bigger devs go all-in on Godot or something, it’d be extremely funny and probably good for the engine

I think it only really lets you get into somewhere you already could by other means?

I do think the ridiculous escalation of any given Final Fantasy is part of the charm. Weird number of them that start with a smaller-scale conflict and toss other worlds and fucking aliens into the mix and... it mostly works somehow?

I believe in this one you can just not invite players in and you won’t have to deal with any surprises. Definite step up, IMO.

From what I understand, it’s a solo dev who just went absolutely nuts over the years, hate to see it.

I’ve watched some BotW challenges and speedruns, and it feels like Elden Ring has that appeal here too - you’re let loose in a big sandbox and, if you want, you can just head out and try to do things you probably shouldn’t! Glad I haven’t seen any of the “playing the game wrong” comments on this one yet; I feel like

I feel like this isn’t so much “SQUARE ENIX (as a singular entity) IS GOING DOWNHILL”, as

From what I understand, there's no permadeath in battles, so losing units isn't the end of the world.

Absolutely see where you're coming from, but I came around to liking Octopath's dumb battle quips enough I don't think I can agree entirely :P

It’s wild that the sequels even went and made new desert planets, and they haven’t even used those ones again!

Scabby my beloved

I mean, that’s just RPGs; grinding’s always been a built-in, if boring, way to make the game easier. I’ve heard leveling Arcane really boosts drops and can make that quicker.

I don’t see that happening, when they could have devs doing literally anything other than “figure out how to make every menu explanation text pop-up work differently from every other tutorial pop-up” - even taking a break would be far more productive.

I mean, they already added much better explnation of combat and stats and menus in this one, I don’t see you or anyone saying NO, THEY MUST RIP OUT ALL THE TUTORIAL TEXT, IT IS BECOMING NOT INSCRUTABLE ENOUGH

I’m guessing the game just pauses for every tutorial pop-up. Seems pretty silly to waste a possibly substantial amount of dev time on making these different - or just make *all* tutorial pop-ups not pause, ensuring people die while reading the tutorial instead of just on the way down - instead of doing literally

I believe this one specifically has invasions be an opt-in thing, so there’s even less reason to not have a pause feature in singleplayer (which, again, it *does*, there's just not a single button for it)

Wish they’d release more of them on everything else, at this point.

My favorite besides these is probably everyone labeling everything as a dog

Some had the Wii as kids, I guess?
