VII and XIV are about the only FFs to *really* sell though, probably even XVI will be a disappointment for them somehow no matter how well it does :/

Had to look up gameplay of the original(’s 3DS english release) to find out what on earth a Soul Hackers is, and huh, wow, that goes a lot of places real quick.

I mean, they also said Neo TWEWY performed below expectations, and that’s about the most niche game possible and they apparently spent like their whole tiny marketing budget showing ads to me, specifically, so while they’re definitely worse publishing western games than developing Japanese games I think their

The weirdest thing to me is one screenshot showing the Opera House scene apparently *is* getting the HD-2D treatment. Might be a one-off thing! Kinda hope a couple other moments get it, or it’ll just be even weirder.

Similar happened with early music recordings, and before that, sheet music - we lost so many of Scott Joplin’s sheets in a house fire, and if we hadn’t, maybe he wouldn’t just be The Ragtime Guy.

Look, if there’s a reasonable way to access a game, I’ll happily do it. Hell, I even bought the terrible old PC version of Final Fantasy VI so I’d have zero moral qualms about playing the SNES original through... other means. Might even buy the pixel remaster for the soundtrack!

Kingdom Hearts III opens up with a title card for Kingdom Hearts II.9, which is still the funniest joke in the series to me.

Nothing hurts me more than Square losing the original, high-res backgrounds for Final Fantasy IX - there's a handful people have managed to find and they are GORGEOUS, and it kills me we'll be stuck with the PS1-compressed ones forever more. (The AI upscale mod looks nice, but I feel like AI trying to reconstruct

Truly the most oppressed class, totally barred from speaking on account of their being born with wealth. The 1% are the tiniest of minority groups, and it is only fair they are able to protect their rights (to control things.)

Mad Because Small is my favorite FFXIV video series because it points out: wow, there IS a weird number of leather daddies around the pirate area :p

Desperately hoping they’ve learned a little since, although that’s probably expecting too much. I just want them to still be buff! (And absolutely not just turn into humans with cat ears as far too many of these things do, but luckily catpeople are already taken so I’m not too worried about that happening.)

FFXIV, notably, has everyone wear heels, so they can keep the poses and walking animations the same when you put on heavy armor. Some shoes just hide it a little better :P

I never got a Wii U, so I held on to MK Wii for years thanks to mods - which were pretty easy to install, thanks to Smash players blowing the thing open. Particularly, the Custom Track Grand Prix mod, which added... a couple hundred tracks.

8 went absolutely wild with some of the GBA and SNES tracks, though, where other games would’ve kept them mostly flat. SNES Rainbow Road’s the main exception there, but I think it needed something to stick out from the most beautiful take on Rainbow Road I’ve ever seen and... the weird original one.

oh come on, he's obviously the kinkiest brother

Isn’t Miitopia rated adults-only in Russia over its equal-opportunity Friendship mechanic due to the same dumb laws?

Probably more the “fault” of new people picking up Switches for their family than commenters here, really :P

I definitely wasn’t expecting them to move onto a new one with how many people are still playing 8 - seems like it’d just cut into their own sales, fracture the player base, and not be nearly as successful on account of having to compete with the one people already have.

My only problem was I wanted just a bit more story to compel me to keep playing, and all the puzzles in between the good stuff wore me out after a while. I need to go back, sometime.

I do think how committed this is to the bit is worthy of appreciation, a lot of games really cheat - even Shovel Knight did, a little - but this has specifically the GBC vibe down pat, which I feel like I haven’t seen much; mostly they’re NES+ :P
