Finally a review of Hello Kitty Island Adventure!

Lord Tubbington, as I call him, tests my patience every time but still, there's something adorable about his persistence. Besides, he'll die young.

What, is it Cat Week at Gameological this week? I already ranted about Neko Atsume in the other article!

What! Neko Atsume is the perfect cat simulator. There are cats, and you buy them comfortable beds, and cool toys and delicious food, and do they show any gratitude? Like hell they do, they're cats, if they want to turn up and loll around your garden then they will, and maybe they'll leave you a few measly in-game

I think when I'm capable, I'll consider that. I wonder how long it takes them to cool down after being hostile (unless they remain hostile). Then I can have some fun judging people..

There's the Forgotten Realms wiki, you can pretty easily google a map, and there might be more in the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide, although I don't own a copy myself. I tend to be a bit non-specific, so if the Paladin wants to find a particular temple, it's probably there somewhere since the city is so large. Of

It's like you've made Covenant Mk. 2. Are your settlers also secretly awful people?

D&D Report

This week, and over last weekend, I managed to fulfill a new year's resolution. I recorded myself gaming, specifically I'm trying to do an as-evil-as-possible playthrough of Fallout 4, with a character whose sole aim is to gain as much XP as possible. Turns out you can't be that evil, so far anyway, so I've had to

I found the asymmetry of Labyrinth a bit too wonky to work for me. The first time we played, the terrorists won by sneaking a cell into France and detonating a dirty bomb. We analysed afterwards what I could have done to prevent it and the answer was basically 'know the future', since there were no actions to prevent

Twilight Struggle absolutely deserved it's long reign at the top of the BGG chart (recently ousted by Pandemic Legacy). It's not an easy game to learn, and quite hard to become good at, but nothing invokes Cold War paranoia in quite the same way than having to play an opponent's card, knowing you've run out of

Now that's a plan.

D&D Report

I've never really played the series, but I enjoy watching people play it. Possibly because there's no room for hyperactive shrieking in a stealth game. The marketing has been excellent though, if you haven't seen it, check out:

With only one hitpoint, I don't think the mouse is going to get too involved. I might let it have an index card. The Druid has already had one pet - a chicken called Betty, but sadly the nasty Warlock decided that it was only causing trouble when the party wanted to sneak around and had his imp murder it. Then there

D&D Report

I really hope they get him for the new Star Trek series, whenever that happens. I think he has the necessary experience and gravitas to understand what makes a great theme, unlike whoever the hell was in charge of Enterprise.

I can't tell if he's metagaming or just a bit dopey when it comes to roleplaying..

Pathfinder is not a bad game at all. It's a spin-off of 3rd Edition D&D, which I played solidly for several years before its charms started to irk me. It's quite complicated in places though, so depending on the age/enthusiasm of your kids, they'll either lap it up or get bored trying to work out fiddly bits.
