In response to a total social collapse caused by the US’s meddling efforts in booting Russia out of the region. Also, the US armed and funded the Taliban. There’s *PLENTY* of blame to go around. Oh, and then the US came back to reprise *RUSSIA’S* role, having learned absolutely nothing from it.

Using humor to cope with something horrible happening to yourself is fine. Using humor to ‘cope’ with something horrible happening to someone else is being a callous jerk.

So it’s lacking a range finger to calculate and compensate for drag and drop.

Please don’t make light of what will be literally life-or-death situations. These young women have rape, brutality, stoning, and other forms of violence to look forward to under the Taliban. There’s nothing funny about that.

I know, right? When Bush Jr sent US forces into Afghanistan, my first thought was, “Are you fucking kidding me?! Are your advisors so stupid that they learned NOTHING from a decade of Russia’s non-stop failures in that country?

Women in that part of the world still have very little autonomy, and even less say in the government. You’re effectively telling them that should have tried spitting a hurricane out of existence.

Republicans oppose education in general, but especially for not-rich people. Because the ignorant masses are there to serve and obey, as has been their purpose in life since time immemorial.

And this ruling comes at the same time the SCOTUS upholds that schools *CAN* mandate vaccinations. I’d say, “Make up your damned minds!” but given the nature of Republicans, it’s almost a foregone conclusion they’d decide wrongly. Because “Party first,” no matter what the party is doing or saying.

That. Withdrawal was the only option. The US should never have tried to ‘fix’ Afghanistan. The majority of the people there either don’t want “Westerners” telling them what to do, or simply don’t care who’s in charge. There was no ‘majority’ to turn the country back over to who wouldn’t revert the country right back

That much is true. Yes, he inherited this clusterfuck from three previous presidencies, each one making progressively worse, but that doesn’t excuse abandoning millions of people whose livelihood, safety, and security has depended on US presence for over a decade.

If there was any area of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan that was clearly handled stupidly, it’s that offers weren’t made to help relocate people out a country filled with hateful, violent militants who would turn on everyone as soon as the military was gone (it’s not as if it wasn’t blatantly obvious that’s what

It was always going to end that way, which is why blaming Biden for withdrawing is just as foolish as the withdrawal. Unless the intention was for the US to come in and completely takeover, turning Afghanistan into a US territory, there was no other possible outcome. That should have been abundantly clear after

Hell, if she was suspended *with pay* then she wasn’t even punished — the rest of us call that a vacation day.

Corrupt police? I’m shocked! SHOCKED, I tell you. I mean, who could have possible predicted that an absence of accountability or consequence wouldn’t result in improved job performance! [/s]

...most Americans think discussing racism and discrimination is actually a good thing, according to a recent survey.

I was sort of going to say something along those lines. The issue is that many of the ‘places to go’ to avoid climate-change effects are run by and filled with genuinely awful people (cruelty is the point!). It should come as no surprise that the rest of the population is actively avoiding those states and regions.

It’s worse than that, actually. In many instances, these officers are following their training. “Surely you jest. Trained? To be racist assholes?” No, I am not. Law enforcement really does have training and trainers for this shit. So even if they weren’t racist before getting into the field, they’re quickly trained to

Totally. I mean, when I run into a postal worker who isn’t in a post-office vehicle or at the post office, my first assumption is that something fishy clearly must be going on. For that matter, whenever I run into a police officer who isn’t stuffing his face with donuts and coffee....

You mean other than not being able to use unserved addresses to ask the FCC for more money to ‘serve’ them? I have no idea....

It’s not like they ever intended to hit their total install goals regardless. Fiber shortage just makes for a convenient excuse.
