I just put down a book that I was actively ambivalent about and immediately flew through something else. As much as the prose was beautiful, the plot was plodding at the best of times. It was painful, I have 3 periods of 30 minutes each and every day when I figured I’d read this book and realized I never did. It felt

Yeah, HR is always there for the company not the employees. If the two groups’ needs happen to align, that’s great. If not, you’re on your own.

Way more stars.

Same. Also, if my body saw fit to start putting me through the horror of menstruation at age 10, I was definitely going to sit in the front seat.

I had this happen in a real-life moms group, except I just quietly sipped coffee and didn’t go back. It was mostly just a group to hang out but a local feeding specialist came in to talk about breastfeeding and early solid feeding issues. It sounded great but it was heavy on the recommendations for chiropractic and

I do basically coat my kid in coconut oil a few times a day because of his eczema. That and steroid cream that he can only have in small amounts for short periods of time. Have I tried the latest “miracle cream”? Yes. I have a dozen eczema creams and keep coming back to the coconut oil. Luckily, the eczema seems to be

It’s Nepalese Chef, not Napalese. As in, from Nepal.

Actually, people tend to stop by to play with my son, who is otherwise pretty easy to keep quietly occupied with books.

I just don’t want to be around assholes. Respect that.

When it happened to me, I would ignore it entirely. Act like the person wasn’t saying or doing a damned thing. It sucked and I hated it, but I had bills to pay. Luckily, none of the guys who did this when I was waitstaff took this as an invitation to get aggressive, unlike your average a-hole at a bar or walking down

And everyone else needs to be punished because you’re a delicate little creature who must control everything around him?

Yeah, I think there is something to living up/down to expectations. Same with food. Sure, some kids are going to be picky no matter what but automatically offering kids bland, heavily processed food all the time and telling them that is what kids eat primes them to only eat that.

Yup, my parents did this too. They’re big foodies and didn’t make “kid food” at home so they certainly weren’t going to go to a kid food type of restaurant. Luckily, there were some great restaurants in the area that weren’t too fancy and I was a very mellow kid. As long as I had my favorite whale book with me, I was

An open kitchen policy? That sounds like a terrible, terrible policy. While a wondering kid poses their own set of problems, I can totally see someone hovering over a cook’s shoulder and randomly sticking their finger into stuff for “just a little taste.” At least small kids can’t reach stuff at counter height.

My cousin-in-laws’ kids are like that and when we say something about it they see nothing with letting their kids go nuts in restaurants. Even when we point out specifics like them literally running into waitstaff. Between them being ridiculously picky eaters and this, we stopped going to meals with them anywhere.

Or you just don’t notice the toddlers who aren’t going nuts in restaurants because they’re small and behaving unobtrusively.

The whole 12 week wait thing is one of the reasons pregnancy losses end up being so devastating. Couples end up so alone. For my 2nd pregnancy (1st was a miscarriage), I told the people I knew I could turn to for support if I needed it. This was a good thing because it turned out to be ectopic and it was horrible but

Any ice cream with white chocolate (fake chocolate) or nuts (even my beloved chocolate almonds) is garbage.

I hear a 63 year old colleague say it to his mother on a regular basis. My respect for him takes a hit each time.

I wouldn’t mind if there were things like, “Here are ways I figured out to get things done more smoothly.” Instead, it is all insane details about people kids and their feels. Also, one person who will endorse anything they can get for free. Granted, they really hustle to get a bunch of stuff (some of it pretty nice)
