"Short Skirt/Long Jacket" absolutely stood the test of time in my book. That song's still awesome, as is pretty much every other song they do. Just that first trumpet note is enough to me make me smile, and when I've seen them live (twice), the crowd goes nuts when they hear it. And yes, the vibraslap is integral

Of all the questionable inclusions on this list, I think the one I'm most surprised about is "Bridge Over Troubled Water." It's a beautiful song about helping people through bad times—and Paul Simon even played it in the Tribute to Heroes concert.

My guess is they thought it was anti-police, with the talk about "all the cops in the donut shop" going "way-oh way-oh waaaaay-oh"

And lemonade and breakfast cereals. All of which are quite good (even the organic cookies aren't terrible)

It just recently (like two days ago) occurred to me that Buster Bluth's "18th century agrarian business" class was most likely a study of plantation farming manned by slave labor, and that's why he might be concerned about an uprising.

I remember watching Napolean Dynamite and thinking it was just stupid and not very funny, but then so many lines from it somehow seeped into my everyday speech that I sort of like it in retrospect.

This is a sweet song. Jack Johnson does a pretty good version of it too, though it's not terribly different than White's.

I don't think it's a specific faux pas, just a personal preference of my own. Continue commenting as often as it pleases you, Eddie.

YES! Block & Tackle is back! And so is football! And the Patriots are gonna win every game by at least 70 points because they can! I'm excited!

While I can't say I'm a big fan of Bruno Mars, I was actually pleasantly surprised by his Super Bowl performance two years ago. That said, it was only 2 years ago—I think it's too soon for a repeat. I'd suggest the Foo Fighters, though I'm aware I'm probably running a risk of oversaturation with them.

Holy crap, this is real? 11-year-old me didn't know what he was missing. I'd be all for a re-make, especially if they can get Arturo Sandoval on board.

His name was Robert Paulsen… His name was Robert Paulsen.

Man, the original Law and Order was a great show. And the team in the header image is probably the one I liked the most (though I did like Benjamin Bratt's character too).

What I wanna know is, who's face is that reflected in the mirror in the bottom center behind the girl who throws the drink in the other woman's face? It doesn't seem to correspond to anyone sitting at the table.

I would like to disagree with John Oliver on one point here. He says English is just essay writing and you can't be wrong. This is false. There are millions of ways to be wrong when writing an essay. In fact, there's at least one way to be wrong for every single word you can ever write in an essay, and most often

You're right, teaching statistics would be way more useful than calculus. I also think they should offer some basic logic courses, in addition to algebra. I can't tell you how much I got out of the 3 levels of symbolic logic I took in college, and I don't see any reason not to teach at least the basic level to all

What I meant was, Shakespeare's works are by-and-large plays and poetry, not novels. I'm being needlessly pedantic, of course. I am not of the opinion that Shakespeare either stole the work of others or wasn't a real person.

Interesting video, but Shakespeare didn't write many novels.

Just off the top of my head, two great songs with "baby" in the title not covered this week:
James Taylor, "Sweet Baby James"
Decemberists, "Better Not Wake the Baby"
