This is a valid question and I think maybe the answer is that Beto has an “x-factor” about him? He’s a great orator, smart, personable, relatable, motivating, inspirational and, very important, media savvy.

Lawrence also noted that this was basically all a fundraising ploy... and I bet Trump didn’t think through that networks would then give Nancy and Chuck the podium to counter him. Which is why, today, he no longer wants to give FEMA dollars to CA.

From what I understand, this case is far from over and has been referred to both the IRS and FEC. And that Underwood and NY are still pursuing the tangle of illegal shit in court. 

As the daughter of a paranoid, delusional toddler (aka babyboomer mom) this has been a comforting thread as I realize I’m not alone. But also agree that it feels strange there are so many parents/family members like this.

The issue being - and as Presidential historian Michael Beschloss has pointed out - Presidents are *very good* at creating distractions to consolidate and maintain power. Usually via some kind of surreptitious war initiative without congressional approval.

It’s been documented in some of the books on him that he is insanely paranoid and fearful that people will try to kill him. And this was before he became president.

While it’s possible (I think). It’s highly (highly) unlikely. Trump *and* Pence would have to be impeached. And impeachment should be off the table for now until the various investigations run their course.
