I mean maybe there won’t be any case against him but I still think it’s great that it’s becoming public knowledge that he’s creepy. That’s useful too.

I think it’s common for these manipulative narcissists to be terribl people in a lot of ways at once...

Surely The Leftovers and Watchmen have absolved Lindelof already?

I like to think Mr Rogers fans aren't cruel.

Why is one of the squad of Jedi hunters/killers supposed to be likeable?

Paul Schrader dumped on Harvey Weinstein’s professional behavior entirely aside from him being a sex pest (I believe that’s the term used across the pond). Here is the larger set of quotes from Nick in the RS article:

K but nobody cares Kirk

That’s the point though, the whole “never complained before” is so utterly terrible as an attempted defence because of course there’s literally a time no one complained.

The attorney also says that “there is nothing salacious about pursuing friendships or consensual romantic relationships with women” and that “no one ever—not once” has voiced concerns about the way Fukunaga handles himself on set” ....until, you know, right fucking now. With a whole buncha people.

Also most star wars stuff is poorly written with barely sketched out characters. There is a long list of actors in star wars that dont have “the depth or gravitas to play the part” until you see them in something else and realize the writing let them down

And that “no one ever—not once” has voiced concerns about the way Fukunaga handles himself on set.

Likeability is a hell of a loaded term, that betrays a person’s subconscious prejudices. Often, likeability amounts to conforming to the norms of the dominant culture. And why the hell should an Inquisitor have to be likeable?

Weird Al fans? They’re probably pretty chill.

i think they mean that John Boyega didn’t get this same defense, didn’t spur Disney or Star Wars to come out and say something.

Look at Twitter. When they try to do something about it, a certain segment of our population loses their shit.

I think you protest too hard buddy.

Anyone commenting with a review of the performance, character, or show, positive or negative, is completely missing the point, and pushes forward the dangerous idea that treating actors as human beings deserving of respect, free from bigotry is somehow conditional. It is not. There is absolutely no excuse for the kind

...are you kidding me? They didn’t do racism at John Boyega??

Kelly Marie Tran is somewhere saying, “Must be nice.”

There would be an upshot here and it’s that Jared Leto would 100% not return for an “embrace the meme” sequel because he takes the CRAFT of ACTING too seriously for that. (Which is why we laugh at him currently.)
