I’ll be the only one here who agrees with you, I’m sure. But man, I have never bought into this show. Shallow can be fun, no immediate examples come to mind but there are multitudes, but I found this laughably bare of anything resembling story, character arc, or fun. Cartoons have more weight (Filoni’s in particular)

Still waiting for Mando to be “good stuff”

I read all of it back in the day - and I do have a vague recollection of it being better, but that probably has a lot to do with them just straight-up ignoring a lot of the really bad older shit in terms of characterization. Like, Cap is just straight up 616 Cap after that point  - which is an undeniable upgrade, but

I never got around to it because Ultimatum was so bad, but I’ve heard nothing but good things about the post-Ultimatum (Not counting Loeb’s Ultimates) Ultimate stuff.

Ehhhhhhhhh. We’ll see. For as absolutely, jaw-droppingly sublime as Ultimate Spider-Man was and as . . . y’know, we’ll say “ambitious” as Ultimate X-men was (Bring back Gay Colossus. That’s all I want), the rest of the ultimate universe is so fundamentally malignant that I’m not sure if there’s a ton to be gained

It’s crazy what a simple (if gross) act of kindness can do lol.

And Miles’s story only continued on 616 because he happened to be carrying a week-old (or years-old depending on perspective) cheeseburger that he could give to Molecule Man. My absolute favorite scene from Secret Wars.

I have a 1 word response to this: YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Except Hickman isn’t exactly bringing it back. Earth-1610 has been around for years now, there’s just no stories being told in it. While it was destroyed, we saw in 2017's Spider-Men II that not only had it been recreated at the end of the end, it sort of reset things, restoring Ultimate Peter Parker as Spider-Man

I love that the leadership of Tumblr is just leaning hard into the site being a base camp for cringe weirdos.  Why not? It’s not like the site is worth much or expected to really grow - as long as it pays for itself, it’s all good.

It’s amazing how quickly people will jump on something like this. Love and Thunder came out less than a year ago. Taika hasn’t released a movie in 8 months? He’s obviously being shut out of the industry. I mean, he’s got half a dozen upcoming projects listed on IMDB and is currently involved in three different TV

“ So say we all. “ ...

Most of these companies are lemmings, what one does, they all do. And following Twitter’s lead isn’t something to be lauded, especially if it’s FB as they’ve been drifting aimlessly for the last 3 or so years. No innovation, just purchasing and copying. /shrug

Weren’t we all saying the same thing circa-Ultron and then eventually pieces came together and it was great? I think there are some rose colored glasses on about how great the MCU used to be that is feeding some of this.

So since like ‘84-’85 when the first Secret Wars came out?

Saying something is a “good idea” because Facebook has started doing it, is not a very convincing argument...

After enough existential threats to humanity are presented and defeated, more of the same becomes stale.

To the extent that there’s a “dip” (I don’t know, don’t follow box office, don’t care), a likely culprit would be the same thing that hit the comic books awhile back: event fatigue.

I mean personally I’m way more stoked for multiversal shenanigans, Kang, the whole MCU getting ripped apart and put back together, etc... than I was for Iron Man 2 or whatever you’re being nostalgic about.

It’s out already!?!?! I still haven’t see the butthole cut

I think when he was first created for the comics, his initial concept was “Captain America with no moral compass”. They’re both super soldiers and they both even have similar costumes (scaly armor and buccaneer boots in particular).
