That actor kind of has odd eyes, though.

I admired that about the book as I read it, because for all the stories King has written, I don’t think he’s ever before truly examined a difficult transition into believing the unbelievable. It was refreshing. The show is actually stretching that process out even more. I kind of don’t mind.

If you haven’t started watching the show, I suggest reading the book first. It’s one of King’s best from this century. As someone else mentioned, though, there are spoilers for a previous King trilogy in The Outsider.

I agree the flying mom was King-ian, but that scene isn’t in the book.

Oddly enough, King didn’t write that scene; it’s not in the book, nor anything like it.

Get ready for the most boring answer possible! They were just movies I bought in the pre-dvd era. I put an ad in Craigslist to get rid of them. They gave me $40 for 67 tapes. The show disguised them to make them look like home videotapes.

I think The Outsider is better than any of the previous books featuring Gibney. She also plays a smaller role in that trilogy than she does here, especially in the first book. But I think you’d enjoy reading about her more. To me, the first book (Mr. Mercedes) is actually the weakest of the three, and the second one…

The book’s depiction of reaction to the shooting is closer to what you describe than what the show presents. Maybe there will be more journalists next episode (which I haven’t watched yet).
