Starshine is joking.

I figure it was 45% to get attention, 45% because he figured he could profit financially from it, and 10% that other stuff.

I wouldn't say "pretty bad", but "seriously flawed". I've seen those fan edits where they add half an hour to the movie. My fan edit would cut it down to just Laura's story.

I just checked, and that is correct.

Yeah, I know Lynch is into duality, especially on this show, but the Toad one can create confusion. Hey, who's the second Ben?

Lynch's writing for Jacoby

What a strange choice to have two Double-R-adjacent characters named Toad.

Toad in this current run of episodes was actually played by a different actor, who has indeed since died. Which is weird, because the original actor is still alive.

Originally, the "two seasons" referred to splitting these 18 episodes into two seasons. But it wouldn't surprise me if they had designed this season in a way that made another season almost necessary. That was their strategy with the way they ended both the first and second season.

It's true that reading The Secret History is a bit helpful, but man, was that book a disappointing slog.

The book stands on its own, though the main character is a stronger one if you've read The Shining. By the way, READ THE SHINING. It doesn't matter if you've seen the movie. I think it's King's very best book. And somehow, when I re-read it, I don't picture Nicholson and Duvall. It helps that they were so bad in the

From this century, 11/22/63 is easily his best. But I would also recommend Joyland and the collections Everything's Eventual and Full Dark, No Stars. I also quite like Finders Keepers, though it's the middle book in a trilogy.

No, that's actually a Lynch episode! It's the one where we find out who killed Laura Palmer.

I can see how someone would interpret her attempts to replicate the show's vibe as pretentious. I guess it just worked for me. I felt other imitators did a much worse job than she, namely Todd Holland's efforts.

It's ok; the content trumps two small mistakes. This site doesn't always proofread itself properly either.

We're currently not allowed to reply to your main post because some idiot marked it as offensive or something. I really like your post, though I wouldn't go as far as others have: Emily is doing a bang-up job with these reviews, and I don't wish she was replaced.

I wouldn't bet on half those things being resolved, because Lynch. He's been known to hire actors for a single baffling scene before.

Thank you for saying that! That episode is one of the only good ones from that mediocre stretch.

I had a similar thought. It felt like we were seeing Lynch (not Cole) at that moment.
