I have no idea if this thing is any good, but take a minute to look at one of the marketing pictures they have posted. Look at the images on top and compare them to the images on the bottom...

I think the person just wants to feel like they have ar least someone interested in them to feel good... but they are not interested in you. This happenes  to me when I actually like a guy.... apparently i have to play stupid games 🙄🙄🙄

Just died laughing at this!!! I feel the same way... I’ve only started dating again recently and I want to pinch myself out of this nightmare 😂🙄

Ordered these (black) back in October. They are great and when considering the price, they teeter on excellent. That may be an all time low price for the grey stripe, but the black were even lower last time:)

Perhaps not! But that’s only because the Salvation Army is successful when it should not be, not because it’s impossible for nondiscriminatory charities to fulfill the same role. And that’s why I’m asking you a hypothetical question.

Okay!

The salvation army’s being bad (awful, really) goes much deeper than them being christian, or “telling people about jesus”. The organization is willfully bigoted and discriminatory, and this has been widely reported in media.

Thank you for the thorough response. I truly had no idea.

The Salvation Army literally chooses not to save the lives of other people because of who they are. Perhaps you can extend your concerns beyond your immediate family. Perhaps not.

Gender is neurological, not biological. Is this genuinely the first time you’re hearing any of this or are you just fucking with me to waste my time?

The Salvation Army explicitly says they are against us. They’re the ones that are the exact opposite of open-minded.

To throw my hat into this. I used to give the salvation army, but then found out that it was a homophobic organization that helps everyone but the LGBT community, and this “liberal atheist” would rather give to organizations that don’t discriminate.

My stepbrother got three DUIs(I know he’s an idiot) over a ten year time period and was court ordered to go to rehab, in his part of Northern California the only one available through the court system was the Slave-ation Army. He was forced to pray, 12 Step nonsense (which doesn’t actually work and is itself a

Denver is a very expensive place to live, and the winters can be harsh. What about a charity that helps people cover their heating bills?

I worked for MSF, their administration is very profissional without ever losing sight of the immediate goal that is to save lives. Roghly only 13% of what you donate does not get delivered to the “front lines”, and make up for all the costs involved (from HR, to logistics and banking fees). They’re really serious

I agree. Cancer research is not cost effective, and it gets a lot of money from the government and pharmaceutical companies. Giving $1000 to a soup kitchen or domestic violence center is a lot of money for them. There are also charities that fly under the radar and do work like driving cancer patients to doctors

Take a hint from this article and give to GiveDirectly. Your rich family’s $10,000 will go directly into the hands of some of the poorest people in the world. You’d be amazed how much more good that would do than just donating to a cancer foundation, which likely already has a valuable endowment.

There’s no particular right answer here. With the caveats that (1) I don’t know your constraints both legal and familial and (2) I don’t know your family history (i.e. has someone near and dear suffered from cancer etc), I would actually say that any of the above charities would benefit far more from $5k-$10k/yr than
