Honestly, there were a couple of bands where they picked the wrong song to be covered and I would love a better choice. Instead of “I Will Dare” by the Replacements, try “Bastards of Young” or “Left of the Dial”, instead of “Janie Jones” by the Clash, you could do “White Man in Hammersmith Palais”, “Slack

criminally underrated ‘90s one-hit wonder.  The album also had a great opening song called ‘Kickin’

Sharon Van Etten - Seventeen

I was going to offer up “That’s What you Get,” but I’m willing to compromise for some Paramore representation.

Weird Al Yankovic - Dare To Be Stupid

If we’re talking staff, let’s get Will Harris on Random Roles again

Probably too obscure, but who cares:
Whale - Hobo Humpin Slobo Babe

my wishlist / things I think would be fun:

I think I speak for us all when I choose “The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy Of Company B”.

Wet Leg covering PJ Harvey's "Long Snake Moan" would be a dream come true.

I’m a long time AV Clubber.  And losing Kinja would be marvelous.  Please bring back the community we once had.  I thought Disqus worked great at the time, and I don’t know if it would be the solution this time around, but something apropos please!

“Slippery People” by Talking Heads!

I don’t have a song selection in mind (I mean... “Tubthumping” got done already).  But hey, if y’all are hiring, toss Nathan Rabin an assignment or two.

Not sure how much clout the AVClub has, but I’d love to see a big name, someone more conventional like an Elvis Costello or Gaga or McCartney do a cover of an Adrianne Lenker song or a Bonny Light Horseman song or any other indie-ish song by a much smaller band.

To It and At It by Stompin Tom Connors.

Going to go with “Laid” by James - to see who can hit the high notes.

I’ma need a cover of “In A Big Country,” by Big Country. Criminally underrated song that any number of bands can make some quality hay with.

I laughed out loud the first time I saw him on Star Trek.  That’s Clayton Endicott III, thank you very much!

and, most pressingly, no Ron Perlman cameo. Really?!

Indeed RIP Rene Auberjonois. Fantastically funny in Benson and achingly earnest in The Patriot. Wish he was still around doing his thing.
