“Cocktails and Dreams” really is the perfect, er, distillation of Happy Endings in one ep. And the “whore’s bath” mini monologue is the perfect center of it all. There are so many bits in this ep that would just be cringe-worthy or fall flat on lesser shows but they pull them off. Especially the Freddy Krueger outfit.

Yeah, 4-7 is the best stretch by a long shot. Book 11 might be the next best after those ones.

Sanderson’s final 3 certainly moved the pace along, although with a significant drop off in quality. A lot of the most important characters were woefully butchered (particularly Mat). And I think he lapsed into a Mormon

I tapped out halfway through book 6. I think I lost interest at book 5 but was too stubborn to quit.

lol, not to wade into a decades old discussion about which books are slow or not but 4, 5, and 6 are some of the most exciting before we get into the famous slog. Which books exactly are part of the slog or whether the slog even exists are still debated hotly to this day.

I’ve only read the first three books (I’ve been partway through book 4 for over a year, haven’t picked it up in months), but I’m excited for this. Interestingly enough, it was hearing about the Billy Zane pilot airing secretly at 2 in the morning that brought the series to my attention. I went out and read the first

I just glanced at the headline and read it as “Jerry Lewis” and immediately my head exploded.

That is quite the shirt Miley’s wearing, very “I wonder who will really buy a $200 shirt with embroidered breasts on the front.”

I’m just disappointed not to have heard the words “pivot” and “lean in” since spinning around and bending forward seem to be the cool things to do now.

I feel like Ego has leveled up ever since the Daniel Kaluya episode, like something clicked for her like an athlete finding their rhythm. The Nigerian mom she played in that episode was one of her finest moments and she shines again here portraying another beleaguered matriarch.

Research doesn’t imply “cure”. Most research around Asperger’s and autism spectrum disorders are about things like how to better teach neurodiverse kids, how to diagnose it earlier, how it impacts depression and other mental disorders, etc. These thing certainly need to be researched further. It’s beneficial to all of

Jones quit like a year or 2 ago

Probably the recent Netflix movie with Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams.

I’m sure some others have noted this, but doctors/psychiatrists stopped using “Aspergers” about a decade ago and that condition has been reclassified as high functioning autism and adhd. It may not seem like a big deal, but the the word “autsitic” carries a lot of baggage and weight; and if celebrities and those in

Yes, Musk’s delivery and cue card reading were terrible. But he was still better at those than Robert DeNiro.

I’m Icelandic and I found the whole thing unbearable (except for Melissa’s Bjork, she got the accent exactly right) but racism is too strong a word. It was too inaccurate to be even remotely funny but I guess being aimed at an American audience, it was bound to be inaccurate for them to get any of the references

I’m confident that someone on SNL’s staff is nerdy enough to know Baby Yoda’s given name. But it’s not common knowledge; even the merchandising still uses the placeholder “The Child.” And it’s always going to be funnier to say “Baby Yoda.”

It’s not just them; I refuse to call Baby Yoda “Grogu.”

This entire episode was impossible for me to watch.

Instead of laughing at the Grogu sketch I was just sitting there wondering “Are they referring to him as ‘Baby Yoda’ because that’s what they know the audience knows him as, are they doing it because they legally can’t say his name, or is it just because they don’t

That doesn’t read like a C+ review, but I agree that it was a C+ show. If you ignore his whole deal and just judge Musk next to other weird, not-an-entertainer SNL hosts he was fine, a little better than average in fact. And the hit-to-miss ratio wasn’t bad: Covid Conversation, Murder Durdur, and Wario were all great,

I liked the new short format this week where it was just all Miley songs and nothing else. Made for a tight, entertaining show.
