It is still unfathomable to me that we’re getting a Masters of the Universe animated series targeted specifically to 40-year-olds

I can see it on 4k on my tv, and there is an an option on my phone to change the youtube resolution to 4k
And who doesn’t like Die Hard 2?!?
Having not read the comics, my main question coming out of the finale is how in the hell could the humans possibly win? The show has strongly implied that Viltrumites, at least once their full-grown, are basically invincible. I assume that at some point it is revealed that they have some kind of Kryptonite-like…
I can’t stand him as a person. But I will say he can be great in the RIGHT role. That role is NEVER a leading man, because of exactly what you said. He can’t do subtle to save his life.
Us of a certain age remember the Crane Kick in Karate Kid and the theater exploding.
This fully tracks to me. I work in a bookstore, and we have a gaggle of teens that come in that are OBSESSED with anything Bardugo even touches. But, being teens, they’re very persnickety about things like covers of series changing halfway through, casting choices, etc.
I asked them what they thought about the show…
Ah, the mistake you’ve made is assuming that a turbolaser is actually a true laser weapon - it’s really much more akin to a plasma weapon, firing a beam of charged particles.
Holy shit. Get him into shape and this might just be crazy enough to work!
Jason Mantzoukas as Hercules!
I imagine that “the twist” in the books will be a lot more subtle — again, assuming the books ever exist — though GRRM has telegraphed Dany’s heel turn in advance since at least the end of AGOT when she murders the old Lhazar woman for poisoning Drogo. (Who was avenging the rape, murder, and pillage of her people by…
“We really learned something from some of the failures of the prequel trilogy. People were bored with senate meetings and motions and other bureaucratic nonsense. With this new story arc we’ve really amped up the excitement and danger with a... galactic fair and agricultural seed growing conference? Is this right? …
I think mostly what this suggests is that Hideaki Anno doesn’t really care about the difference between a robot or a cyborg or an artificially-grown humanoid fighting machine cloned from your dead mother’s DNA. To him, the phrase “robot anime” encompasses a larger genre of “big machine, boy pilot” stories, and in that…
Yeah. This bit was a doozy:
“he explains at length how Warner Bros. cut 30 minutes out of his Batman/Superman movie which all but ruined any nuance he was going for with the characters”
WB was pretty high on the idea of Snyder being the architect of their cinematic universe, in a position much like where Marvel had Joss Whedon in Phase 1. I’m sure the whole branding idea originated with him, and WB basically backed his play.
Dude worked on Rise of Skywalker, BvS, and Justice League. Pretty sure he’s just piling on now that Whedon is a convenient scapegoat.
Wait, what? the studio demanded the branding? Is that code for Snyder, because I was 100% certain it was Synder’s idea of 90's grimdark nonsense.
“All of which doesn’t even get into his experience on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, including studio mandates that Batman brand people with a bat symbol, and an original ending where Batman did just that Lex Luthor, which Terrio fought.”
The Trench got cancelled so hard it isn’t even mentioned in an article about it being cancelled.
