Yup it goes retroactive. That is why it’s very brave for the makers of Juno for casting a boy to play pregnant teen.
Forgive my ignorance if this is insensitive in any way, but does the Matrix trilogy count?
It was before the Wachowski’s transitioned, and they had the benefits of male privilege going for them then. Lana didn’t officially transition until 2008, and lily was well after that.
Birds of Prey making this list is proof positive that we need more female filmmakers.
When I first saw it, I didn’t like the Last Jedi, but now with some time and perspective I agree that it is by far the best of the last three. It’s the only one that has stuck with me and spurred my sense of wonder as opposed to pandering to my sense of nostalgia.
I hear ya. The biggest downside to the pandemic is this assumption that “real” fans stayed up till midnight or took off work/watched during work/don’t have jobs so that spoiler images and posts can now start 12:01 AM Eastern and they don’t need to be clever anymore. Mandalorian was ruined multiple times not by some…
I’m not talking box office, though it could be argued that TLJ and TRoS should have had higher takes. I’m talking critical response, and fan response. TFA had some divided reactions and TLJ even more so, which is fine and expected, but everyone is fairly united in thinking TRoS was a mess, and that was the finale to…
That’s what it comes down to. The entire park can, and should, be rethemed to a different time period. I think they know they blew it in the end with the sequels.
You’re missing one important fact: Disney has regularly refreshed their rides and lands, often drastically, since the start. Star Tours is a perfect example - It evolved from Original to Prequel to Sequel Trilogy content, and they were not subtle refits.
I’m pretty sure it was Beth who wrote a defense of how GOT ended right after the series concluded.
My main complaint about Game of Thrones was that the last two seasons were too rushed, but I enjoyed the ending itself.
The first three books are great. I’d never been a big fan of epic fantasy, but they won me over.
. . .our plan was always to put him (Warlock) in the second one. So I hope everybody watches the movie
It’s basic Star Wars movie design. Make something that looks cool/interesting for the big screen and then let the animated series/comics/books figure out how it would actually work.
Honestly? It’s weird and I like it.
Most Star Wars languages are just Earth languages. Nien Nunb in Return of the Jedi speaks mostly Kikuyu, the language of Kenya’s largest tribe, as well as Kalenjin, another Kenyan dialect. At one point during the Death Star battle he shouts, “One thousand elephants are standing on my foot!” The voice actor, Kipsang…
I just figured Lucas and Kasdan thought fodder was shit when they were writing the script.
maybe a more interesting story line would be about the fact that these nuns have taken vows of celibacy, something not even hinted at in the show.
I genuinely had no idea this was coming out in August, I’d only seen “late 2020" as the premiere date. Maybe we’ll see it in October now?
The new movies are really rooted in a singular notion, which is that everyone hates the prequels, that they’re this pop culture trauma/embarrassment on the level of the Bee Gees’ Sgt. Pepper movie. And I don’t think this is true. My friends and I enjoyed the movies when they came out, even though we acknowledged they…
