Please tell me she’s named after Shirley Jackson!

When I was 10, my calico took a ride in the dryer. I thought the thumping was sneakers, asked my dad if it was and he said “Nope”. We both looked at each other and went sprinting for the dryer. Her skin was red and flushed under her white spots, and she was very thirsty, but otherwise unscathed.

Shirley just has a resting bitchface. Here she is after saving our chicken Waffles from a hawk. She is a badass mofo.

That look still is judgy as hell.

Obligatory under the circumstances:

Meet Shirley. Survivor of the Dryer incident of 2018. This snaggletoothed beauty took a warm dryer ride on a snowy winter day for about 10 min (I thought the thumping was snow boots) and was overheated and PISSED, but came out fine and smelling Spring Fresh. She rewarded me for saving her life by peeing on my pillow.

My great aunt used red currants to make preserves that were nice - especially with thin pancakes (not quite crepes but close) that you roll up like a mini jelly roll. They are also a common ingredient in liquers that at least in eastern Europe people make at home.

I don’t have much space for fruits and veggies but I bought a little strawberry kit at Home Depot and I’ve got green sprouts coming up so yay. No idea if I will actually get strawberries.

Seriously! Fucking vapes with their fruitylicious flavors marketing to kids. My kids grew up with non-smoking parents and most places banning smoking and then we get this Made in China crap that we don’t even know what’s in it thrown in as a whammy.

I graduated in 2006, and I didn’t have ANY peers in HS who smoked tobacco. I did know people in college who smoked, but it was still not popular amongst most students, and the whole campus went smoke-free a few years after I graduated. Fucking vapes, man. We were so close.
